Question. This is hypothetical but just ignore the fact klopp never changes system nor buys. Would YOU take a risk on Eriksen? Given where LFC are at would you look for someone who could do a bit for 6 months here on a free?
Well Eriksen would be far cheaper on a 6 month deal. Hed def give us an option from free kicks at least. Better than anything we currently have in the squad.
Might take take corner and all. Give trent a kick up his over confident arse to be taken off free kicks and corners
Definitely, just thinking you'd get more overall out of Ford. I wanted us to sign Eriksen from Ajax though and he'd fit us perfectly atm
I didn't want Countinho back, but the deal that Villa have is ideal. Minority of his wages, option to buy but no obligation. Can't really go wrong for them
Personally villa got exactly what they wanted, not even from coutinho. The reaction from buenida (or however you spell his name) was really good as his place was under threat. Against precisely what I want to see at anfield but don't. Far far too many comfortable players (robertson for example has to watch tsimikas play in cl and came on and ran like a lunatic for 15mins but is then straight back in no questions and stays in so wheres the message to a williams or tsimikas in that)
It's not a stupid game It's a hypothetical question about a player available on a free. Stop being so mean
I think he's a man of principle who'll see out his contract. I'm not saying he wishes to be a 'spending' manager who wants to buy a team to manage (Hi Pep) and completely agree that he prefers to build players and teams over time - using youth when possible. However, even the best squad builders need to buy. Our squad players/bench are mostly bang average. Of the bench today, for example, the only two who could realistically come on and make a difference are Nico and Gordon and they're both kids. We have an amazing XI, the best I've seen in my lifetime at this club, and one which should be competing each year - Winning something each year. Something to continually build upon and ride a wave of success. Yet we're just fizzing out...and AFCON cannot be the excuse, there's been plenty of time to plan for that. As a fan, I just feel the owners aren't as ambitious as they need to be and Klopp's gonna walk in 2024 having won nothing more with this amazing team.
It's funny though, fans get it in their heads that they know what the club absolutely must do - then take it personally when it doesn't happen. Well, I think it's funny anyway.
Klopp is a mix of both I feel - he likes to promote the youth where possible but he's not afraid to go big. If you look at our recent success, it's on the back of phenomenal player recruitment: Allison VVD Fabinho Mane Salah These 5 players are / were the spine of this great team, and then we supplemented with more quality like Gini, Robbo, Matip, Bobby. Then you have Trent who is from the academy. Spending money doesn't guarantee success but I back our recruitment team to find the best players to suit us, and then I trust Klopp to take them to the next level. We don't need to buy the likes of Mbappe / Haaland - we need more Jota / Konate profile signings to continue refreshing our squad and keeping competition high.
your last two posts make little sense together. Rafinha would be 50-70mil at the moment as leeds will stay up and his contract runs to 2024 or something. If you look at all of the spending you've identified mane and wijnaldum arrived together but Benteke, ibe, Allen, skertl all departed so we actually made a small net profit on pure transfers. salah arrives but Sakho leaves. We then buy ox but had the whole coutinho and vvd affair. We do a deal to get keita in 12 months time. then countinho cgoes and vvd comes in. The books again balance remarkably. 10 mil net income it is only after the CL final loss that we suddenly wake up. alisson, keita, fabinho and shqirir is bought as well. These give us our single big net spend figure. While klopp is willing to buy one really good player there is a failry consistent theme of paying it out of the other hand rather than investing. we get nobody the following year We get jota and thiago on the never never type deals and then only buy one the following window. If you want rafinha then I have to ask. who is going to be sold to get us 70mil to pay for it? this is just the way it is. 30mil budget approx. 10mil from grujic "future" sale, that gives you 40. now wheres the other 30? Phillips? (no movement) origi (out of contract), minamino? I reckon we are going to have to bite the bullet here and let someone go.
Salah, Mane and Bobby were scheduled to leave in the previous eighteen months. Mane and Bobby have declined meaning their value will have decreased too. Salah is at the top of his game but his value will be decreasing too because of his age (applies to all three). That's without considering the financial impact Covid's had on club's or the massive debt that Barcelona and Real Madrid are in; two of the three hopeful buyers. PS... that's another I read all the way through btw
Harry Wilson money is due this summer as well as we agreed to delay by 12 months to help Fulham with FFP. Williams, Phillips, Origi, Minamino, Keita, Ox? Be good £50m raised there plus save wages on Adrian, Karius and Milner leaving.
