Huddersfield Town v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - John Smith's Stadium Date - 15 January 2022 Kick off - 3:00pm Following their somewhat disappointing 2-3 home defeat to 10 man Southampton in the Third Round of the FA Cup, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is a tough looking away trip to Huddersfield. Last Saturday evening, Southampton lasted 90 minutes with 10 men to overcome Swansea City after extra time in a see-sawing third-round FA Cup tie played, thanks to Drakeford’s Law, behind closed doors. Nathan Redmond put Saints in front, and they were in largely complete control until Yan Valery was sent off in the 30th minute for a second booking. After that, Swansea came more into the game and Joel Piroe smashed in to force extra time, before Jan Bednarek's own goal gave the hosts a 2-1 lead. But Mohamed Elyounoussi equalised seconds later and Shane Long struck on the break to give Southampton victory. On the same day, Huddersfield came from behind to stun Premier League Burnley and reach the FA Cup fourth round. Matty Pearson completed the turnaround for the Terriers with a close-range header three minutes from time. Jay Rodriguez had broken the deadlock in the first half with a firm header from Ashley Westwood's cross. The lively Josh Koroma equalised for Huddersfield after half-time before Pearson's late winner. The Swans have played the Terriers on 59 occasions, winning only 17, drawing 16 and losing 26. In the corresponding fixture last season, Steve Cooper’s Swans were on the wrong end of a 4-1 thumping: Turning to Saturday, with the Terriers 6th place in the table - sitting in the last Play-Off spot - and the Swans in 17th, I can see nothing but a comfortable win for the Terriers by 2 or 3 goals. I hope I’m wrong
Thanks Taff. I have no confidence whatsoever in this manager and team 3-0 Hudds. Prove me wrong Doc Martin.
Thanks Taff. Yes I agree I think we will come up short on Saturday. I expect we will make a couple of defensive howlers, so it's a 2-1 defeat I am afraid.
Thanks Taff.....Huddersfield is a long way to go o see a defeat.....my heart says at least a draw but I think we are 8n trouble and will possibly get a hammering like last season....RM is still alluding to a lack of pre season and now the pandemic.....get on with it please......fans are tr@velling 8n numbers apparently due to lack of live football at home don’t let us down please
It could be the calm before the storm . Due a change in circumstances my last away game was the Reading cup game ,hopefully I can rectify that soon
We are so easy to score against, and we have not addressed this issue, defensively very schoolboy stuff........
It's Martin's obsession with playing Naughton in the centre. Cabango needs to be there with Naughton wider right - we need the mobility there that Cabango doesn't have. That then also gives us someone that can actually win a header in the middle. Russell Martin is trying to be too clever, sometimes the obvious is the most effective! Also - Downes & Grimes are both doing exactly the same job, namely - pass short backwards and drop on top of Naughton, one of them needs to be given freedom to bring the ball forward (or if they can't do that, should be brought off.) Jeebus it's depressing watching us
