The council, worked with our owners to fund us a new stadium out of council funds? That is one interpretation of it I suppose. Not the one some of us would have.
It’s well documented how frustrated Adam Pearson was with the council he just didn’t have a public tantrum like the Allams
I’ve just been reading an interview he did with the Mail ( not the daily fail one ) such an interesting life our new owner has had. I think the surprise he is talking about is a behind the scenes type documentary of him buying our club, from start to finish. Also I think we will get to see more of how the day to day running of the club goes on a regular basis. I’ve a really good feeling about this fellow, yes they all say something we all want to hear at the beginning but I think this bloke is the real deal. Onwards and upwards chaps !!!!
Pearson had a massive issue with the council. Hull was one of twelve cities to be granted a license for a 'super casino' due to a lot of work from Pearson in pitching for it. He wanted to build a hotel with the casino combined on land behind the South Stand. It was knocked back by HCC because they said they had plans of their own on land near the River Hull. It pissed Pearson off to the extent that he sold the club and of course the casino and hotel never was built by HCC. Heard today the Royal Station Hotel has competition. We all know the RSH had been closed to visitors for over a year now because every room is taken up by asylum seekers, which no doubt helps the likes of Hammonds of Hull no end. Now the Dorchester on Beverley Road is closed to visitors because it's 70 rooms are to be taken up by asylum seekers for the next three months. They are bringing their own staff too.
Only just realised but Sunderland had to wait for many weeks for the EFL to rubber-stamp their takeover. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56114374 So from some time in December to 18th February. They'd better be a bit quicker this time FFS.
Is that from when the EFL were first contacted and dialogue began or when the final paperwork was submitted for ratification? The EFL have been involved in our sale for some time now. But how much longer will depend on the amount of tweaking that needs to be done to the fine print to satisfy EFL.
