Balls. Surprised they didn’t take a look at the earlier passage where it looked like the West Ham left winger was offside though.
There has been some good play and Idah has looked decent at times, though his delivery needs to be improved. But for all the effort, and nice play, there is zero penetration, once again.
Agreed and now they’re just ongoing to knock it around comfortably for the rest of the match because we really struggle to press. And we’re going for pure long hall already because we cannot really retain possession under the West Han press. I think I’d rather Farkeball right now.
It's not just the press they struggle with - there does not seem to be any definitive game plan - no press, not playing counter-attacking, just kicking it wide or long (or both) and hoping something comes of it.

Just Vlasic, and our fans are moaning about him, I guess we learned it when we played Arsenal a few weeks ago. Lanzini went down for a bit, but he did get kicked in the neck by Coufal.
Pukki has worked his socks off, Idah has actually been OK, midfield not the disaster I expected but much weaker in the last half than the first half of the 45. Gibson can tackle ok, but always seems to have problems with his positioning. Aarons' side of the defence has looked vulnerable. West Ham are an example of how you can do well without particularly brilliant players if you are physical and streetwise and good at set pieces. Not the kind of football I like to watch, but it works. 1-0 is just enough to keep me watching when I should go to bed.
I'm pleasantly surprised by our play with such a radically changed lineup as Smith is really trying something new and quite original. Idah and Placheta have given us a threat to get behind and when the ball is lost they come from behind. When the passing works we look good but too often balls are lost unnecessarily. It's been a better performance than I expected.
