    I think it's the manner of the defeats as well though. Going along nicely then we have the heavy defeat against Rotherham, Portsmouth and Shef Weds. Then we pick up form again then last night defeat.

    Personally mate I just thought it was a game too far, we looked knackered apart from the 10 minute 2nd half spell when we pissed all ower them. May be we should’ve looked at calling games off with the issues we’ve had. We’ll bounce back from this, but we do need to freshen it up with the injuries and Covid taking it’s toll.

    When the stadium of light first opened i'm sure we had that installed - it was a mixture of grass and synthetic fibres. I've still got my programme from the first SOL match v Ajax and it was talked about in that. Clearly over the years we've gone back to a more traditional seeded pitch which doesnt wear as well.

    Aye, I seen it through one of the big ramp doors one day and it just looked like new seed going down.

    We've have loads of different pitches over the years. Had a new one every year after the concerts. Think they layed the 'wrong' type a few year ago.

    Fair play to Johnson he has criticised the pitch a few teams and said he wants improvement. I thought it had happened as we all read about the 500k going into it. If it didn't happen it needs to, if it did happen then it needs looking into as it clearly was a cowboy firm as the pitch has looked terrible at times this season.

    The playing surface should be state of the art for the type of game we are wanting to play.

    Thought it was re-seeded last summer and grown from scratch a new base etc. installed prior to the seeding, there was a picture doing the rounds. Its shoddy to say the least if this is what we end up with and with another 2 to 3 months of potentially winter weather ahead I dread to think what it will be like in March. Watering it was just plain stupid, I know the players love to slide about on their knees without getting nasty grazes but it doesn't help our "total football" style when its like a ploughed field. Lincoln will be used to playing on a surface like that, its very rural in Lincolnshire so loads of furrows to practice on.

    There was talk of a new pitch (hybrid style used in PL) but evidently they only reseeded it. I'm sure that will be addressed in the summer but for now they have to make the best of it. Blaming the pitch for last night's performance was weak. It was the same for both teams and you have to adapt

    Traditional = cheaper
    Stadium of Light became Stadium of no Light. Our various owners have all allowed the club to be run further into the ground.

    The jury is still out on KLD and having found out he didn't do what he was going to do with the pitch I can't see it returning with a verdict until he has fished a few quid out of his pocket and spent it where we can see the evidence.

    I agree, a poor workman always blames his tools. We were not good enough its as simple as that. The pitch looked horrible though and that is not good enough either.

    I don't think that's strictly true. The club never said they were investing in a new pitch etc that was all reported by the local media and the podcast lot

    He's got that wrong anyway. Linfield, where he came from, are a pro club.

    I think the intention was for the part synthetic pitch to be laid, but that plan had to be abandoned, possibly due to the upcoming concerts. Bit of a logistics problem basically. They obviously thought they could relay it for the time being and come back to it.

    The problem is, firstly, England Ladies and possibly another team have used it recently for training, which obviously properly cuts the pitch up with lots of concentrated wear and tear. It looked immediately worse the week after this.

    The second contributing factor, Johnson has said he is looking into, because he and the sporting director were basically baffled why the pitch had been watered so much that it was waterlogged. That part is amateurish and needs sorting ASAP.

    It's doesn't excuse the performance but it certainly contributed.

    I must say I hadn't seen the pitch get any kind of watering last night but I was in 5 mins before kick off. At half time a Lincoln play chiped the ball up way above his head and went to let in bounce, first bounce went about a foot and the 2nd was none existent. I still think we managed some good football on it at times though. Noticed a few fans are getting a bit restless.
