That feeling going into the last 20 minutes of a game with a three goal cushion? Priceless… COYS! What a night to be a Saints fan!
We don’t know that given our new owners. And if we match others he might well want to stay here. But it does have West Ham written all over it sadly
Just got back. That 30 minutes after HT was as good a performance as I've seen for a long time. We. Killed. Them. Off. At last we managed to put a team to bed in the 2nd half. The first half was very odd. Very slow paced game and it was very flat in general. But we got 2 goals and Ralph must have noticed the lack of tempo and told the team to up it at HT and lo and behold we blew them away. JWP outstanding in the 2nd half in particular MOTM. But Diallo, Romeu, Perraud, Salisu and Broja also very good.
Yes agreed, more positives about our performance than the 'poor from Brentford' brigade. They weren't allowed to play.
Oh, and bring on City. Really looking forward to that game now. Could be an absolute cracker in front of the cameras.
Also - have the last few games shown we have blundered (again) on the goalkeeper ? Especially if the Athletic was right about McCarthy getting a new contract but it just not being announced I don’t see any justification for him coming back into the side when fit. But perhaps I am just operating on short term memory
Great team performance tonight Loved the 3 man midfield JWP playing like a leader Perraud’s best game for us Lyanco is bonkers Salisu Is a one man wall, he made 3 tackles in about 3 seconds at one point Scoring goals again including 2 at the Chapel end for the first time in months
To be fair, if you tell Solak that he can wind up the Serbian government even more by making an Albanian his statement signing for his new club, he might be up for it.
Just back. I have to say I wasn't expecting that. Great game thanks to two teams who really like to play proper football. Probably the best game I've seen JWP play. For me he is now a world class player. Just about no weaknesses in his game whatsoever. Quite priceless. And Perraud impressed me as well. A very intelligent player both on and off the ball. Lyanco is going to be a club legend. All that said, if I was a Brentford fan I would say it was a slightly flattering scoreline. They battered us at times in the 2nd half but everything seemed to be blocked or saved (we've been there far too many times ourselves) and three of our four goals came from defensive mistakes (been there too). Great entertainment, and a nice kick up the table. We definitely deserve that on the basis of how we've played this season.
Did anyone listen to this on the radio? By all accounts Danny Mills absolutely hates us. Anyone have any idea what that is all about?
I too watched that broadcast via Hesgoal. Was impressed with the commentary- no discernible bias unlike the majority of Sky/Amazon/BTSport crews.
I find this when listening to American, Australian or (in this case ) South African broadcasts The bias in the British media really is stark. Mainly for the big 6 but also a few others such as West Ham (seem to be the journalists favourites), Leeds (no idea) and Aston Villa (now managed by Gerard and the media is dominated by ex Liverpool players) On Boxing Day they even announced our result as “West Ham lost 2-3 at home to Southampton”. Results are hardly ever actually described that way other than “classified football results” on either radio or sky sports soccer Saturday. And even then it wound be “West Ham 2, Southampton 3” It really stood out to me as being shockingly West Ham focused
Well that was enjoyable! Whether it was the take over giving confidence, the formation or Brentford's poor performance it worked so well. Same team next game please.
Came in late to see this. So sorry for your loss Libs, that is just awful news. Feeling your pain man.
First time we've scored four at home since a 4-1 win over Everton in November - back when Mauricio Pellegrino was manager!
Just watched the replay of Broja’s goal, that pass from Salisu was unbelievable, and the reason we scored
