The Govt/NHS did do an exercise on what would be the problems of a epidemic (particularly a respiratory one) in 2016 a report was published Cygnus. Amongst other important points it emphasised the need to have lots of PPE on hand and to be able to produce them at home. In fact to save money stocks of PPE were run down and when the pandemic struck frantic attempts to get PPE from overseas were made, generally failing, so shed loads of money was given to tory 'chums' to deliver supplies. Cygnus also strongly recommended that particular attention needed to be paid to care homes, to prevent unnecessary deaths. The opposite of this happened and lots of deaths resulted (including my Mums).

One of the many reasons Bonko keeps kicking the investigation into the response of Covid19 down the road. Is that it will become clear they ignored their own report of a few years previously.

  2. Thanks for the info mate....hadn't seen any of that. Sincere condolences on the death of your Mum....mine is in a care home at 94,so I have lots of sympathy with your comments!
However, the thrust of my point was that Cygnus should have been carried out decades ago, and been automatic at intervals since, to ensure the Govt of the day was up to date with the possible scenarios, and that they should have acted upon the information they were being given.
I'm no Johnson lover, and I positively hate the duplicitous spiv Cameron, but what measures were put in place by the Labour Govt. from 1997 to 2010, under the liar Blair and the hapless Brown, to provide for the scenario as identified later by Cygnus?

As I have said before the NHS has been criminally under funded and abused for years and years by ALL parties in power.

Used as a political football and the issues faced neither addressed or in some cases recognised.

We now have what's left of a brilliant service running at pretty much max capacity all year round (not just bed space, but all services)

Staff leaving due to the pressure they are under pretty much all the time, let alone the frustrations they feel as they can't give the service and levels of care they want to.

Its criminal really how politicians roll out the nhs when they want to score points or deflect from something

So it’s confirmed with evidence that while they were announcing you were allowed outside with only one person during lockdown, the PM, who was supposedly trying to protect the NHS was inviting 100 people to a drinking session. While we couldn’t see our parents or separated kids him and just wife were inviting mates round for posh drinks. Any previous Boris lovers got a different view of him now ?

The worst of this, for me, is that the PM had already 'almost died' through contracting Covid.

He boasted that the NHS, while overwhelmed, nursed him back from death's door and we should all be proud.

Sorry Mr Johnson, I'm not proud to have you leading the country ...

... you're just laughing at us all which I think you've done since you were born.

There’s a part of me that thinks this has been engineered. The constant drip of new is pretty much like their unethical budget announcement. Maybe Cummings, but Johnson is the face of Brexit and let’s be honest it’s not going well. Maybe economically there is recognition we need a different version. Let’s be honest percentage wise the country wanted us to retain a strong connection to Europe for sound economic and social reason while a small majority wanted us to have more independence. We didn’t get that balance and if we had we might be in less ****. Maybe there’s a recognition in his party that the face of hard Brexit needs to change. Maybe there’s another reason, but I’m convinced this isn’t the accidental car crash we’re led to believe. It’s too well orchestrated.

I could live with being in the EU or being out but Johnson and Co just saw the opportunity for popularity in hating the French and hating migrants and forgot we have people who need to buy food and pay bills who need looking after. Johnson’s incompetent version of Brexit is him all over. All blag and no content

No I’m saying what we got wasn’t what people voted for or expected. It’s a **** show of a Brexit deal is what I’m saying and it didn’t take into account the balance of public opinion.
Here he is laughing at us

"Brexit" is done, finished, over with. Out of curiosity though, can you name me one benefit of leaving the EU. Serious question.

It can be used as an issue to cloud the PM's ineptitude?
