Don't they have Wifi in the new stadium?
Why does he have to go to America to discuss transfer funds, has face time/team viewer not reached North London yet.

EDIT..........even an old fashioned phone call would be sufficient <laugh>

Because its looking like the usual Spurs transfer window

Pre window - We need to strength and will be looking to make signings

Early part of the window - We are working on identifying targets

Later part of window - We always knew it would be difficult to sign players in this window

Then they panic and buy someone substandard

Post window - we tried and next window we will be looking to sign players

    Rinse and repeat

I guess in Levy’s defence, I’d happily go for a meeting in the Bahamas rather than a FaceTime chat.

Does anyone actually believe this? Did they actually quote Levy? I can't imagine he briefed the press that this was happening.

Whilst most of the criticism Levy gets is fully justified, on this occasion is it not likely that someone has got wind of Levy heading off to the Bahamas and joined the dots? It is probably a planned board meeting that has been booked in for months.

    Obvious Speculation Watch
Gianluigi Longari claims the reason we didn't go for Coutinho is because our priorities are a CM and CB

Definitely not because signing somebody who's played sod all football in eighteen months isn't ideal

Sky Sports were saying Spurs priority this window is a ST and RWB

Have we actually been seriously linked with a player for either of those positions?
I'm not going to include Traore, as he's neither.

There’s three separate reports in Italy claiming:

We’ve offered Ndombele for McKennie - rejected.
We’ve offered Lo Celso for Kulusevski - rejected.
We’ve offered Tanganga (and cash I think) for Kulusevski - being considered.

Last week Juve wanted Lo Celso in a straight up deal

There's some porchetta going on somewhere...

Nah they just said that Spurs were prioritising those positions this window. Roy Hodgson was on and said he didn’t see Traore as a RWB too.

I really hope the Traore rumours are just that. I don’t think he will produce the goods on a regular enough basis

Hodgson was technically a decent enough coach, but he was and is no visionary. His selection of Wayne Rooney as the English Pirlo and having Harry Kane taking corners at Euro 2016 are particularly memorable in that regard. If he says Traore's not a WB, it probably means that he's got a fair chance of doing a decent job there.

I mocked Victor Moses as a wing back when Conte started playing him there. By the end of the season, that joke wasn't funny anymore. Conte and his coaching team are pretty good at assessing players' capabilities. I am presuming that he's ok'd the potential signing of Traore, being only too aware of his limitations and those capabilities, because he will provide sufficient of what Conte needs, at a price that we might be likely to afford. I'm having to reassess Eric Dier under Conte, as others are having to think again about Winksy. He plays players to do what they're capable of, not to showcase their weaknesses.

My main concern is that when Conte leaves and we employ a coach with a completely different game plan (we always do), he will become totally useless to us and hard to shift...but that seems to cover everyone we've signed since sonny, so....'what the ****?'

For 20 million I don’t see Traore as much of a gamble…we just need him to run through 2 banks of 4 then lay it off…keep it simple.

Plus I think Conte will be the best manager Traore has worked with…reckon we will see his best with us…I’m not expecting goals and assists galore but he has a skill set no other player has in out first XI

I agree with Bri that the concern is when Conte leaves but that’s always the case…look at the fat lump Poch lumbered us with

Ain't no one having to think again about Winks, he’s still ****, there’s just more that are ****ter now <laugh>

He’s managed to meet the bare minimum requirements of:

    Gives 100%
    Not injury prone
Doesn’t need oxygen after 45 mins

Which players such as Ndombele, Lo Celso and Dele can’t meet.

Dier has redeemed himself to a degree though and we certainly missed him the other night but I think we need a full season or two to really see if this is just a purple patch or he’s actually become a decent CB.

As for Traore… If Conte wants him then so be it but he’s so painfully average it’s not even a laughing matter. Literally has one attribute and he’s managed to make a career out of it.

Apparently Barcelona want Traore so I guess if that is true, we will have to look elsewhere. Like others I don't that will be a bad thing as long as someone else arrives to give us 2 viable options down the right.

If we really want a proper RWB to give Emerson some much needed competition then Lamptey’s the one. Pay the £50m. He’s rapid, can defend and is an overall far better player than Traore.

Failing that, Max Aarons. Needs a lot of work but he’ll be a lot cheaper than Lamptey (and probably Traore) yet can likely be moulded into a decent player in time.

Traore should be near the bottom of a relatively long pile in my opinion. I truly can’t see what it is fans/ clubs/ Conte/ Paratici see in him. He’s even been in and out the XI for Wolves this season. And if we’re going to Wolves for a player, Ruben Neves should be it, or Jimenez as a solid Vlahovic alternative.

If we've got £50m to buy Lamptey...and a really decent striker...and 2 starting midfielders...and a couple of decent centre backs....and a back up goalkeeper, I'm all in for more expensive and talented alternatives. I'm guessing that we don't have the funding and priorities are being applied to get in enough of what Conte needs to give it a real go.

Conte's used to converting players to this position and would presumably rather spend a decent chunk of that £50m elsewhere, if he can get Traore for half of that, or less. If this is a 'Spurs Special' of buying a player that the coach doesn't want, that's a different matter. I'm ****ing done with that ****.

I remember writing in 2015/16, that for all of Walker and Rose's forward runs, collectively they contributed less than 10 PL assists that season. Pinning their opposite number back and getting the ball forward really quickly may be enough for Conte's plans...because I doubt that he's expecting the bloke to turn into Cafu or cross like Alexander-Arnold.

I re-watched Moneyball a couple of nights ago. I think that Traore would be that kind of signing. Conte thinks that he will get enough out of him in a positive sense, by structuring his function in the team to what he can do, to overcome what he can't. The difference in price to someone like Lamptey funds improvements in other areas of the field that Conte thinks will make more of a difference to us as a collective.

We may have Conte as manager, but we're still Spurs and we don't have City or Chelsea's budget.
