If it wasn't true, it'd be unbelievable. It speaks volumes that the Met and the IOPC found no case to answer for misconduct. 'Luckily' they hadn't counted on strong families that would not let them get away with it. Never try and bullshit a Hull lass, they don't tend to take ****e from anyone.

    EDIT:

Anthony Walgate’s mum, Sarah Sak, 55, was a huge driving force behind getting justice for her son and the other victims cruelly killed by Stephen Port.

“Sheridan has done a brilliant job. I think she is the perfect person to play me. I wanted a gobby northern bird and not some posh actress to play me.”

At the beginning of each episode, it says that it is taken from true facts and records. Unlike some similar series is doesn't even say "some changes have been made for dramatic purposes", or something along those lines. So I'm pretty sure the actions of the police are more or less in line with what actually happened. It, therefore, beggar's belief that the IOPC says after investigation, there is no case to answer for misconduct. In fact, at the end of the last episode, it says that no police officer was disciplined and in fact, 5 have since got promoted. 3 of the 4 were murdered because of their lack of believing the families that they felt they had been murdered, and it wasn't until the last one someone finally twigged they were linked.

Just watched the 7 episode crime docuseries "The Keepers" on Netflix. What is it about the Catholic Church, especially the heavily Irish-infuenced versions across the globe that seem so corrupt? This is set in Baltimore, MD. The church, the police, the judiciary, all very cosy together and making sure that all shenaningans (in this case the murder of a nun and gross *****philia) by priests and facilitation by these priests of similar abuse by other pillars of society, is covered up, the perpetrators protected, the victims humiliated, the church lying, the loss of important documents, the lack of co-operation by church, police and judiciary. They really are a bunch of fcuks - an arrogant two-faced behemoth that protects itself at all costs.

Just watched the Tourist on BBC, quite a good watch even though a bit quirky at times.

I started watching it when it was up to about Series 4. I'd totally missed all the hype and everything.
It was really quite an enjoyable watch if you tried not to think too hard about it.

Admittedly, after series 4 it got a bit silly and plumetted badly. If it had just finished with a plausible ending though it would have gone down as a really good series that people would watch today. As it is, the ending destroyed it.

I'd be tempted to watch it again to be fair. In fact, I might just load it to my Plex server on the offchance. Maybe Series 5 and 6 won'f be as bad 2nd time round.

I remember about 5 years ago Mark Herman on Burnsy's show talking about a TV drama about the Headscarf Revolutionaries that he was going to direct, never heard anything more about it?

Can't find a link to the programme but there was one on a few years ago about the massive cover up regarding this and the fight after the fall of communism to get a memorial. There was some poor sod who was at a minor level who took the 4ap for others.

I went to some of the Inquest at the beginning .
The level of incompetence was both glaring and startling from the very 1st minute that the medical response guy arrived .
He deemed it a critical incident and was virtually ignored .
This guy was in the police list for sexual allegations before Anthony was murdered !

I rewatched it again all the way through during lockdown, was well worth it tbh, present tv is twice the size than when i watched it 1st time around so that added to the impact, on second viewing it's suprising also what you may have missed 1st time around and yes the ending is a bit naff but that is what it is.

Most of the way through The Coming Storm, a podcast examining the role that things like 4Chan and QAnon set the scene for the storming of the White House last year. Really interesting stuff about the interactions between US politics, conspiracy theories and batshit craziness. I’m not a fan of conspiracy theories (and neither is the guy from the BBC that presents to podcast, to be fair) but it’s an interesting listen.

Just before Christmas I watched a Channel4 documentary devoted to QAnon - bottom line; they were bat-**** crazy, armed to the teeth and totally out of touch with reality; we all like a good conspiracy theory but, these nutters didn't have an even half decent CT. Coming to a City near us is my guess.
