Yeah I think it being televised is the biggest draw back. Would have thought the prospect of a Cupset and new owners would have been enough to override this but ah well.
Doesn't really matter about TV or anything else. We haven't got a new owner yet. That's it. People haven't waited staying away for 8 years to come back when it looks like we're about to have owners. They'll come back, if at all, when we DO have new owners.
I've seen the game advertised more on the national BBC then I have locally. It's hardly got a mention on the radio, or in the local rag. I'm sure it's well publicised on social media ( is it?) but the people I come in contact with are not aware it's reduced prices or anything, just that it is being shown for free on the BBC on Saturday tea time.
We won't see a meaningful crowd swell until we're back at the top end of the division with a realistic prospect of going up. The wind is well and truly out of the clubs sails and it'll take more than a bloke who no one really knows saying nice sounding things to change it. Last season was a horrible season for no fans to be there. Winning a league would have got the goodtime vibes of previous years back for a season or so. Instead it's an acheivement I'm pretty numb to as a pass holder. If I'm non-plussed by it because I wasn't there for the journey how the hell are the fair weather fans going to get on board?
The primary reason for me not going(and I stated it clearly) was 1; it was on T.V!!! And 2; the logistics are difficult at present for me,and some others. Another reason is people won't go back until the Allams have been wiped off the map...That's up to them. There are also those who don't want to mix in large crowds, spend money on something that they "might" have to cancel(you've had to cancel x.mas without warning) and those that don't rate Everton at present. You seem to be making an absolute meal out of me mentioning a pandemic and the FACT that it's causing issues in all our lives!! In short,YES,television is without doubt the most obvious cause of a lack of interest...I'm quite happy to leave it at that as 1; it's an unnecessary 'argument ' (I use that term loosely) and 2; I'm going for my bus to work...
No meal out of anything, I initially responded to Muzz who suggested people weren't going because they didn't know if the game was on. It's fine, it's been spoken about and I agree it's fair enough for people who have to travel by train/book hotels, I was surprised if people down the road were not going to go for that reason.
We've been through this before. That game had a big crowd because of the £10 adult tickets and massive accompanying marketing push. The narrative that it was because it was Chelsea ignored that we played them in the league 3 seasons prior and the crowd then, at full price, was completely average for the time. People who want to believe we have crap support and can never do better, believe that it was just glory fans going for Chelsea.
Burnsy's spent all week banging on about the game and him being back in the commentary box and there's been plenty in the HDM... https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hull-city-everton-fa-cup-6445390 https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/fa-cup-tie-everton-welcome-6434511 https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...ews/everton-given-major-boost-prepare-6440186 https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hull-city-everton-cup-injury-6443177 https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/pressure-cranked-up-everton-boss-6433747 https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hull-city-fitness-everton-tie-6430789
It hasn't worked then has it ? Ticket sales are slow. Everton sold out 3,000 in 2 hours. Our sales are disappointing. As for the HDM. You are quoting Hull Live articles which are a nightmare to try and read and not everyone spends all day on-line, or listens to Burnys.. I want to see billboards around the city and the match and expectations, even an appeal to turn out and support the team etc on the front page of the printed version on sale in all the shops. It would make a change from the ****e we usually see on the front page. The people I mix with everyday in my working life all know the game is being shown live on the BBC for free. No-one yet I've spoken to is aware that tickets have been reduced. That is my point.
I said that's why I waited until yesterday to buy one. I've been to plenty of logistically awkward games over the years as well so I'm not in the habit of looking for excuses. I just doubt I'm entirely alone in thinking I'm wasting my time with things recently.
i think if the take over had happened early in the week then I think it would have had a decent affect on the gate, however it hasn’t which is a shame, it’s not just the facts of a new owner but the the full media build up would have been totally different. Obviously Covid Will put some off, been on the main tv channel definitely will. I wanted the take over done has quickly has anyone else and still do however it probably would have been best with it been so late in the week to have been for our next league game, that’s when you would get a true reflection of how it will affect the gate.
Assuming it's announced tomorrow, I still think there'll be a late increase in ticket sales, even if the timing does limit that increase somewhat.
