Well on top of what iI said this morning on the U23s I have just posted the team news for tonights cup game and obviously we dont give a toss about this cup because we are putting out kids who stand no chance and also giving a few real U23s a few minutes to keep their hands in
I will keep an eye on him. If this is real then Drameh will be sold pdq. We may see him go on loan to buy this window. Maybe greenwood will be sold too.
Well Aski lets see what happens now because Summerville, Greenwood and Drameh taken off, so Im betting we will be lucky to keep the lead. This isnthe way the season has gone as we try and save some of our better players for the first team bench. But thanks for your input
I’d be ok with nyambe at that price. Out of contract in the summer. Quick and strong. By all accounts his distribution/crossing is grim, (so he should fit right in) but he’s young enough to improve. Good cover/competition for ayling.
3-2 As expected normal service resumed. We dont even have enough subs especially when you plan to swap 3 players at half time leaving one outfield player and a keeper, why? We dont have a first team match until Sunday, we could have played Joffy and Greenwood and Bate and really gone for it, but no, not even the new lad. All I an say is it doesnt seem important and thats why I wonder about the team we select on Monday against WHU 23s after we play WHU first team on Sunday. Will we put out a team strong enough to try and win as we need the points Bamford could have had a run out tonight too?
There was a rumour on Monday that Bamford might have made an appearance in this game to build fitness. I’d imagine we’ll use the cup game against West Ham instead now
To be honest Doc, given your "this side has no chance", I was expecting us to get stuffed 0-5, as basically even if you may not think it, I do actually respect what one of our most positive posters on here has to say. Thus I can quite happily say that I am proud of the fact that the team gave as good as they could, they scored 3 goals and didn't lose, so not quite the pasting you intimated before the game.
You are Nostradamus doc! Thing is it’s really not worth getting wound up by. I agree it’s good to have the 23s in div 1 playing a higher standard, but no club prioritises the results. Look at the table, we’re second bottom and within a couple of points of Chelsea and Liverpool… It’s hard to imagine they’re short of talented youngsters.
It’s all about priorities now. Although I suspect we all really enjoyed the last few years of U23 success, the real priority is keeping the first team in the EPL. We all understand that Marcelo prefers a small squad (that could change next season), so faced with the injury situation it’s a no brainer that he prioritises the first team. Whilst a run out for some (certainly Bamford), might have been useful, I’m not sure he qualifies under the rules of the competition, and even if he does, would you risk him with only Gelhart currently available as a first team front man? I wouldn’t.
