It's so difficult in L2 especially when you're playing for a side at the bottom. It's incredibly physical and not very technical. Salford played Bernard a lot at RB & left him out of the side a fair bit because of it. Not saying Harry Wood will come back and walk into the XI but you get my point.
True but it's a bit close to cigarette and I wouldn't want that for her. However, I'll give Tiggerette some thought as I quite like it. Thanks. I don't think she'll understand for a while as she thinks my name is Grandad.
Anyone else got a feeling that the 'unexpected departure' mentioned a short while ago is going to be Wilks? I just sense there's something going on, but could of course be way off track. Something's been wrong with him for a couple of months or more. Makes (imo, and if true) a really poor decision to go drinking in town at the time the Boxing Day match is announced as off. Left out of the squad yesterday (I didn't catch the reason given, but if it was a knock or something then I'd take it with a pinch of salt, like has happened with others several times over the years). As said, may be off track, but maybe not. If so, it's a shame as there's a real player in there, but something is clearly not right this season.
there's a few in the squad that are good League 1 players but are nowhere near good enough for the Championship such as Wilks, Magennis and Eaves - they all need to be moved on in the window and replaced at the earliest opportunity - we also need a good experienced centre back - for me the jury's still out on Greaves - too many mistakes and can't head the ball properly to get any direction which is why he keeps missing so many chances - he may improve if he plays alongside a more experienced player but that wont in itself improve his heading so personally I'd move him on as well
Where was an unexpected departure mentioned? But yes think Wilks, Magennis, Eaves, Cannon, Moncur, and a few others could get moved on.
I don’t understand why we signed cannon, moncur, Williams. We are the only team who “strengthened” with players that can’t get in a poor team
I had the feeling with Moncur and Cannon they were just Squad fillers. McCann seemed to think Williams was a talent worth getting, but he certainly hasn't featured as much as you would expect.
Something went on with midfield Smith after the Wales call up, they said something to do with his fitness, but that is a temporary thing, but he has been frozen out since?
The summer window was far from ideal but the plan was pretty clear and that was to add depth to the squad. We could only bring in frees and loans on tiny money so we didn't have a tonne of options. It's not like there were loads of options in our budget that we didn't go for, we pretty much got the best we could afford. Whether that was good enough for the championship, is questionable, but you can thank the penny pinching owners for that!
We also signed Huddlestone (another midfielder) who has hardly set the world on fire this season, when Curtis Davies might have been a better choice.
