Kept saying the same thing to my youngest son, saying that Man City don't have big players but they work so hard to close angles down etc and our players are doing the same. Also, been critical of Gooch at times but credit to the lad tonight. He was moved into numerous positions but never stopped trying and didn't even let the penalty decision put him off his game, as he would have done previously. Fantastic night and, although I might be on my own with this thought, I think there were some tired legs at the end because of the effort put in so Sundays game being off may be a blessing?
just watched the highlights (again) and the goals are all pretty straight forward, no 'trying for the perfect pass it into the net' just simple, pass the ball to a team mate, get into the danger area, nice flowing football...can you tell i am still buzzing?
This, only happens when I miss the game... Therefore our next game is important, to maintain this level of performance for top two.
Just watched the highlights on Quest and they reckon we didn't play that well!! Can't wait till we kick into some form - someone is gonna get a double figures tonking!!!
Have we ever had a December like this before... 4 Wins, 2 Draws No Defeats 17 for 3 Against....top of the league...have a good New Years celebration tonight lads. (I'm ignoring the cup games).
I think you're right about the legs. This goes with the manager's remarks about knowing Sunday's game was off and asking " for a really big effort". Something else we got right on a night when we got the rest right too!
I know I’m getting repetitive with this now but my god, how good is Pritchard? You can see why the lads twice transferred for close to our club record, took him a while to get there fitness wise but he is an absolute cut above, and easily good enough for the next level too. Just such a natural and effortless player, love watching him.
This is the best I've felt since we've been down here. What a performance! New Year's Eve and top of the league.
Other than the first 10-15 minutes Sheffield Wednesday were not really a threat, (which surprised me). Mainly cos we were very good, although I suspect the linesman did us a favour for Stewart's first goal (of his hat-trick). What did we learn....going forward we were good, defensively another clean sheet. Although I still need to be convinced that Gooch can play LB, he seems unwilling to head the ball and his tackling is poor, good going forward though. Cirkin seems to be LJs preferred defensive LB not Hume. Pritchard had another good game, some said Evans did as well, I am not so sure. Pleased that Doyle got a goal, Wright despite not being quick did a decent job as RB, although imho Winchester is v good in that position.
I'm not too sure tbh. It was that league 1 "expert" they get on every week. Can't wait for when we do play well though!
