Going back to the penalty, Schmical moved before the kick was taken, one foot was completely off the ground. It was a poor penalty but do these rules no longer exist?
Don't forget though, we've probably got a replacement lined up for Gini in the Jan window - a loan signing from Stuttgart on the last day of the window, and a Championship lad who'll never get to kick a ball for us in a competitive game. Joy.
Can you imagine the complete implosion had that been forced to be taken again? He was bad enough that it had been given in the first place, though it was one of the clearest pens of the season.
It's never been consistently enforced. We've had keepers leave their line too. It's a rule that all but the most extreme infractions normally get ignored.
It was actually one of the things that VAR are supposed to review every time, much like when a goal is scored.
I wonder when people will realise I have said we have been fading over several games now. Look back to wolves etc. We are getting run out again and now we are officially in the fatigue section of our season again. This started with fabinho injury and internationals where we had two fit cms and firmino out as well. We have played through And now we pay for it.
I disagree. It has been more who has played in midfield. In a high octane game Ox is effective look at his best games it is always where the oponents attack thus he can run into space. In a low block game Ox is as useful as Aspas under Rodgers. This was a game of the more patient pass and move player. A Fabinho Keita Hendo would have been ace for this game. It is a shame that our midfield yesterday was outdone by Matip and his glorious runs. He really needs to start volleying them in
Mate, we have faded in several games over the month and start off and tried to control things, at times poorly. We have been trying to start quick then control but the longer teams can stay in the game the more time and space they get second half.
Whether he did or did not, it's something that is almost never enforced. Even with VAR. I can't remember the last time I saw someone punished for stepping off the line. If I were a manager, I'd say "subtly try it, you're almost certainly going to get away with it". It may be different in the UK, but reminds me of certain traffic laws like following too close, driving in the passing lane when there is noone in the other lane, running red lights... Police never enforce these rules unless there's an accident, so you frequently see three or four cars cross the intersection after the light turns red... Often right in front of a police car... Often it's the police car doing it. Red means stop unless you're in a hurry.
That’s nonsense though. In the VAR era every penalty is checked to see if the keeper has a foot on the line or not.
Keepers do come off their line all the time but if it's a goal then it doesn't matter. If it's saved, VAR will usually pull it back. They check every goal and penalty.
If salah took the pen properly then schmeichel would have done what he did in the leavue cup and have dived out of the way. Even chipping it down the middle would have gone in such was the early dive schmeichel did.
More than anything manes miss was unforgivable. View it from behind mane as there was a good angle of that and you will see schmeichel was again down early and the near post was wide open so any old finish on target would have done. He blazed it over. That's piss poor.
