Skybet are moneyback 2nd or 3rd in the 3 mile Novice Chase at Leopardstown 1.45pm. I think Bacardys at 10/1 is a good price. He was second to Bob Olinger at Gowran with Master McShee (who won the limerick grade 1 on Dec 26th back in 3rd). We know he stays from hurdling and won his bumper at the track so course no issue. Looking back on his form he seems to throw in the odd howler but that's factored into the price so I'll have a dart on him.
Hong Kong plays 11.45-The Rock @ 5-1 1.15-Super Win Dragon @ 11-2 1.45-Fiery Diamond @ 11-2 2.50-Gunnison @ 7-1 1pt on each
Newbury 200 Pounding poet has been in some seriously good form just like Lacey and Sheppard . 7s looks to big
The most intriguing runner of the day has to be Lieutenant Henderson's Surfman in the Introductory Hurdle at Newbury. He was last seen finishing 8th for Roger Varian in the French Derby (behind Sottsass and Persian King) and before that a fine 3rd in the Dante behind Telecaster and Too Darn Hot. He makes his hurdles debut after a whopping 941 days absence.
It looks a decent renewal of the Challow and it is a shame there isn't an 8th runner for e/w purposes as I think Party Business is massively over-priced after a very convincing win at Ascot last time. Win bet only with 7 runners.
In Ireland it looks like being another good day for Willie Mullins but I guess he will be a little nervous about how Kilcruit might perform. Absolute top-class in bumpers last season, he was turned over at odds of 1/14 on hurdles debut by Largy Debut. The winner failed to fire in the grade 1 novice hurdle on Monday and suddenly Kilcruit has questions to answer. This is no penalty kick today either, with several interesting recruits from the flat and points and all the big yards represented. I wouldn't be rushing to take 5/6 this morning. Sharjah and The Nice Guy ought to give Mullins at least a double on the day though, and one of his ought to take the mares race too. The Limerick Hurdle offers the exciting Teahupoo a chance to improve his win ratio (although it would have been nice to see him take up his entry in the Matheson at Leopardstown).
Doncaster 12,28 Surrey Quest 13/2 Second run after WS (won LTO), stable top form, 10/38 last 14 days Newbury 14,35 Crypto 13/2 Lads and Coral, others 6/1 Up in trip, stable on fire 7/19 las 14 days 15,05 Lossiemouth 3/1 All my interest today is directed towards Leopardstown 12,35 and above all 13,10.
Did a write up, re this one, on Christmas Eve (I think that's when it was). As you say highly intriguing runner...
What did we think yesterday about Klassical Dream, Galopin Des Champs and Redemption Day then??? In my opinion all 3 will be very, very hard to beat, at the Festival in March, if they turn up in the same form as yesterday at Leopardstown. Meanwhile, what price the middle named for the 2023 CGC??? I think he's that good, team.
And in the same heat the Waley-Cohen's unveil one that they spent €250,000 on! Some contest as neither this one or Surfman are, currently, in the top 2 in the market!
Last at kelso I am suprised to see prince dundee drifting Out to 3s . Prince was 15 lbs worse of than the fav Cudgel back in march and they were close then with cudgel edging it but today the track and conditions will be in princes favour . There is only 10lbs between them today so i was not expecting any movement from the crookies.
Kelso 1242 Skipthescales has been drifting like a barge and like a t w a t i have been waiting patiently to place a bet but at 20s i realised its BOG lol so ew bet struck.
Some selections for today Kelso 12.42 happy hollow 1.17 cedar hill Newbury 12.50 peking rose 2.00 Beauport 2.35 crypto 3.35 fern hill Good luck Cheers.
14:20 Leopardstown - Zanahyr (The Nathaniel gelding has a sporting chance in this Grade-1 Class-1 Matheson Hurdle to upset the hot favourite, Sharjah. Still a very young horse at only 4-y-o, and will surely improve with experience? Jack Kennedy rides for the Gordon Elliott yard. 5/1 best price at time of writing) I wish you all an enjoyable day's racing, and good luck with your wagers!
