I saw it on Twitter earlier, it got short shrift, however another person ITK said City had cancelled the pre match hotel in Sheffield yesterday, make of that what you will
Yes and if I remember correctly, he absolutely bossed it. We were winning as well and I think we drew the replay or maybe lost but we didn't win it.
According to the Telegraph we're "facing an investigation" from the EFL. Behind a paywall though so not sure of the details.
Hull City are among the clubs who face an investigation from the EFL after calling off their Championship match against Blackburn Rovers during a chaotic Boxing Day when the fixture list was hit by Covid-19 outbreaks. The game at the MKM Stadium was called off just before 1pm, just over two hours before kick off, with Hull confirming “we are unable to field the required number of players for the game”. Hull added in a statement that they “informed the EFL that we would be unable to fulfil the fixture”. Blackburn forward Bradley Dack called the situation a “shambles” on Twitter shortly after the postponement. The EFL may look into the circumstances of the cancellation, which could lead to Hull paying costs incurred by Tony Mowbray’s team to prepare for the game. It is understood Hull moved to have the game called off as they had less than 14 players available. In League One, AFC Wimbledon have told the EFL they want clubs who postpone games for coronavirus outbreaks to be “held to account”. They have had consecutive matches cancelled, against Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth. They have published a strongly worded letter to the EFL saying they could have fulfilled the fixtures despite having “a fraction of the resources” of their rivals in the third tier. “We want to take this opportunity to call on the EFL to undertake its due processes and implement the strongest-possible measures to ensure that – where a club is able to fulfil a fixture – it does so,” their letter read. “Further, where it is found that a club was unable to fulfil a fixture, they must be held to account for all decisions which led to that position.” Only nine matches in the EFL went ahead on Boxing Day, with 24 called off because of Covid-19 outbreaks. Wimbledon also revealed they have only had 11 cases since the Omicron variant emerged, three of which were in their “first-team bubble”. “This is not by luck. This is down to hard work and spending resources our club ultimately does not have at its disposal,” read the letter. “It just doesn’t sit right that, having gone above and beyond our means to ensure matches can be fulfilled, we will now be at a disadvantage – trying to navigate a very congested second half of the season with a small squad.” Wolves’ Premier League match against Arsenal on Tuesday has been postponed as the West Midlands side do not have enough players. Leeds’ fixture with Aston Villa has also been called off. “A combination of positive Covid-19 test results and injuries led to Wolves requesting for the fixture to be postponed, which was accepted early to give supporters a two-day notice period,” read a statement from Wolves.
Maybe HCAFC should just go to the EFL and say.... you do know that todays game cost us 600k in TV revenue... our biggest gate of the season (revenue) and ask if they feel under the current financial circumstances they have swung the lead...!!!
I am speechless at how Hull City could be blamed for the late postponement of the Blackburn game. City advised the EFL on Saturday that they had 14 cases of Covid in the staff and players. As I understand it they were told to use under 23 and youth team players to play the match. Several I know were called into the first team squad. Further testing on the morning of the game revealed 19 Covid Cases. The EFL then agreed to call the match off. Some of the comments made by Bradley Dack and supporters of both teams beggars belief. One Supposed Hull City fan said that they should have played players with the virus! The EFL should have called the game off on the Saturday as it must have been obvious that the risk of further infection would occur. Playing the match would have endangered the players and staff of both teams. Any fault seems to be firmly in the court of the EFL. Billy B Paperboy
No wonder Blackburn has famously been riddled with disease given the attitude I’m seeing from their fans. Most of them probably carrying more mass in coronavirus cells than they have brain cells.
How many eligible players do we actually have? The rule says 14 available players including a goalkeeper from The registered squad list And contracted but unregistered senior players U21’s who have made a first team appearance To be honest if you can’t find 13 outfield players and a goalkeeper from that lot, it would be far more farcical to press on with a game under those conditions than it would be to postpone the game at any time. Imagine if Blackburn beat a team of 15 year olds 20-0 and went top. It would make even the formula 1 finale look straight in comparison.
