At one point last night as Foden ran at us again I was thinking "stand him up, push him wide, make him give it to Grealish!".

Last season vs Villa the whole game was stopping the ball getting to Grealish. Against those last night Grealish was the easier option! Ridiculous team City! <laugh>

Completely agree. I've followed Bielsa for years. His teams are fantastic and when he ripped apart Man Utd with that Bilbao team it was testament to that. For me there isn't a better coach at that level.

Where I give Pep the edge over most is his ability to get the best out of the best talent. Different class in that respect.

.... We didn't concede in the last 10 minutes. We completely shut them out. I think they were out of ideas and we were ready to launch the comeback but just left it a little late.

If Foden had gone down early on, as Grealish would have, we may have lost by more plus Silva missed an open goal.
Dallas did hit the post though and we did have a couple of other chances.
What summed it up was the Firpo deflection span inside the post whereas ours was deflected wide.
    They were just too good.

I don't think he's ever really bought the best. I couldn't name you a player he's bought who would be considered an elite talent. People forget most people had Pogba down as a better player than De Bruyne in 2016.

Pep couldn't do the job Bielsa has, but I don't think anybody else could do the job with talent Pep has. I have no idea how you keep that many players happy and control the egos. I thought Sterling and Bernado Silva were goners in the summer and Mahrez the season before but he has a way of seemingly keeping players on their toes.

I thought Mahrez was excellent last night but so was De Bruyne and Stones and Foden......

Who’s to say whether pep could do the job bielsa has? Who’s to say whether bielsa could do the job pep has.

one is turning average players into an efficient entertaining team… the other is harnessing talented players, managing egos etc.

On the one hand it would be fascinating to see what bielsa would do with pep’s budget… on the other I’m not sure the bielsa model really works at a ‘big budget’ top club.

He wants to micro manage everything, which is tough for the clubs exec, he demands control of the players lives in a manner established talent is less likely to be open to.

Not saying it couldn’t work - there are plenty of players who want to learn from such a respected coach… but I think it’s easier for him to shape ‘challengers’ than manage ‘stars’
