Yeah but boris told you not to meet other households and then has a christmas quiz and 7 parties. They all say do what we say not do what we do.
I'm not saying it should be given by the way... Just that if it's happened it really is a certain breach. I ref football at a decent level and trust me... Applying laws as written is a pain in the ass sometimes... But they are the rules.
Btw verstappen could claim Hamilton was breaking dangerously under the safety car and he had to get away from him. Equally hamilton could in theory be penalised and its be interesting to see sainz video to see if hamilton braked
Sky now debating the overtaking under the safety car and trying to justify that it was only a few millimetres and/or for a very short period of time, which is truly baffling for me. Again we are constantly told that these stringent rules are there for safety reasons, so at what point is safety no longer important?
Anyone else got the impression sky put everything into a massive no 8 tribute for hamilton and are scratching round now to fill time.
Lol they even admitted it when signing off. I am assuming the fia are going to get all european tv companies to sign off and it's late in the day at the track so theres less press to be showing them walking off
I think ultimately the race result will stand but Masi "by mutual decision" will step down. Anything other than a "mutual decision" will be seen as FIA admitting guilt. Merc won't be happy with that result but maybe we'll at least get a better race director. Masi seems to have taken the title director a little to much to heart this season.
I can't see how FIA would let that happen as it would open a huge can of worms but I think Masi has had way too much pressure applied by Liberty to create entertainment. I'm not sure how FIA get out of this one, maybe just say 'we will convene a committee and await their report' then 6 months later announce all was fine....
I think it will. FIA won't rule against them selves and Merc will want to take it further. Though even with a good case I just think you're always fighting the odds to have something as monumental as the title decider over turned. I know the stakes shouldn't matter but clearly they do. The worst part of all of this is, it'll probably still be in the courts when next season starts which is just sad.
Slightly off topic but anyone know if Williams still make their own gearbox or if they use mercs? Reason being, Latifi's crash was caused by gearbox failure.
Sky highlighting some of the details of Merc's protest. It sounds like Merc aren't happy with a number of things: Max over taking under safety car Only certain cars allowed to unlap SC not coming in a lap later as per the rules Original decision was not to allow cars to unlap and then TV shows a radio call from Horner pressuring for 1 lap of racing.
Once the decision was made to allow lapped cars to overtake the safety car the regulation for this applies to all lapped cars. Once the unlapped cars have gone past the safety car must stay out another lap. what happened was only 5 cars were allowed to go past the safety car and within 1/4 of a lap the safety car ends. That’s the race director deliberately ignoring and manipulating the regulations. It doesn’t matter who was first and second and going for the championship, what happened was blatant cheating by F1 race director to get a race result and a new world champion knowing that if the regulations have been followed that wouldn’t have happened. Even if it had stayed with no lapped cars overtaking with Max on the softs, he had 5 cars between him and Lewis for that last lap. Lewis would have been well ahead and won the race that way and been champion You don’t think that if it had happened where Lewis pits and is on the softs, overtakes Max and wins the race that Red Bull wouldn’t be protesting exactly the same as Mercedes’ are doing now?
Not sure it was that deliberate. They didn't want it to end under caution, plain and simple, so for the sake of the show the rule book went out the window...which is just simply ridiculous.
