I disagree I think 1st half we matched them, but slowly over time they reverted to type. Shelvey just sitting in front of the back 4 and pinging balls around. Joelinton Manquillo and Lewis the only lads that turned up for us.. Wilson poor, max in sick of the sight of him walking around.
Although he was **** we can’t blame him. Im saying it. Howe got this wrong from the start. Again. No one plays 4-4-2 long ball football anymore. No one. What has he realistically improved since coming in. I would like some evidence to say he’s improved things because I’ve seen no improvement at all. We can blame red cards and penalties and the like and even covid. But it’s all excuses. We had a manager who did that once.
That’s that one out the way, one match closer to our window. We’re still in touch, no panic required, and panic/pessimism wouldn’t change a thing about the reality anyway. We’re in the ****. I believe we’ll get out of the **** before the season’s over. It’s boring my tits off listening to commentators/journos/pundits. They’re betting their mortgages now on the fact that we’re down. Or so you’d think listening to them. And they won’t stop - ****ing - carping - on about how difficult it will be for a team in our position to attract players in the Jan window - well we weren’t actually expecting Mbappe you ****ING MUPPETS, it’s called ‘enthusiast humour’ for now; we just anticipate some upgrades on current players We don’t envisage Champions League qualification - we know it’s about avoiding relegation (nb we will avoid it) We aren’t anticipating Man City/Liverpool first team poaching…. we know are going to just bring in players that can hit the ground running and show grit, guile and ugly determination to gather points Those types of players are NOT going to be weighing up their offers from the big hitters, and they won’t have a better chance of a bit of an adventure and a great salary than they will when we come in for them - and they’ll be told who else is joining so they won’t fear being the only big fish in the pond Relegation form teams have NEVER been in the corporate position that NUFC are now in in terms of backing and promise for the future. Normal rules won’t apply. And every commentator is ignoring that. It doesn’t guarantee safety… but it improves it’s possibility. other fans laugh at us, and the world of media just likes a colourful story to tell, and then there are the darker haters, including the Premier League itself and certain pundits and journos - but it’s all ****ing nonsense and doesn’t affect the reality that we can still dictate our future irrespective of stats. I know we will rise from this, and we’ll do it this season. We will not go down. (Now I’m going to avoid Brendan Rodger’s moonface)
You can't play a midfield 2 of Willlock and Shelvey away against the better teams in the league. Howay Eddie man.
There is multiple problems mate. The players mentality is as weak as piss. Bunch of quitters. Go a goal down and they drop their heads. A huge lack of fire in their belly's and no self belief. Next problem is the squad makeup. square pegs in round holes with an aging creaking defence, wing backs who can't cross, central midfielders who would struggle in the championship and then we have our wingers. A 4-3-3 would require wingers who can score - OURS CANT.
So we go 4-5-1. Players are terrible mind. But Howe is showing alarming naivety here. The fan fare and goodwill will wear off soon. That second half performance Steve Bruce would have been absolutely hammered. And I’m not excusing Howe because he’s a nicer bloke to us. You said it yourself you can’t polish a turd. But we beat them last season and we finished 12th under bruce. There is no improvement so far. No new manager bounce. No change in performances.
I’ve completely fallen out of love with football, it’s a game that relies on deceit, simulation, referees, greed and corruption, the football is only a bit part. Fans mean **** all, no one cares about them.
