Excited to see the return of Royal Guardsman in the Aintree 4.55. Looked very smart last season in his one start and is 10/11 to win a bumper again today.

Really like the look of Almadan in the first at Aintree (5/2)

Anyone have any opinions on the race?

Looks wide open now the McCain runner is out Mighty Boosh, with the others looking a pretty average bunch. Probably best to watch the market develop on course and see where the late money goes. I would have Royal Opera on the shortlist after his recent Leicester victory on the flat (but of course he could be a complete dog over hurdles <laugh>)

Apparently this Royal Guardsman is a goodthing, evens with Ladbrokes.

Great race at 2.35 at Aintree. Absolutely no idea what will win it though.

Two short priced bumper favourites and i think they are both very strong candidates to win their respective races so i've gone in quite heavy for the double.

Nap - Royal Guardsman - Aintree
    Sands Cove - Galway.

2.00 Aintree UNEX PICASSO 7-1 (BOG)

Now Hollow Tree is a non runner we have a very open race to start the card at Aintree. It is a poor juvenile hurdle on paper to be honest and this is how I have come to the conclusion that Unex Picasso could be a good bet. Although well beaten on two of his three flat starts he did show some signs of ability as well as temperament. Perhaps his best effort was on debut when 4th and only beaten 3 1/2 lengths by a horse now rated in the 70s the runner up now in the high 80s and the 5th home Mungo Park a high 70s also. On his hurdling debut at Chepstow he unseated at the first so he is still very much an unknown in this code but if putting it all in and returning to somewhere near his debut form on the flat and if able to transfer that ability I would fancy him to run a big race here. Almdan is also a unknown having been fair on the flat in three starts in France, but at 5-2 he doesn't offer much value.

2.35 Aintree BEARS AFFAIR 7-4 (BOG)

A fascinating 4 runner Novice's Chase as non of the 4 runners can be completely ruled out. My selection Bears Affair is based around the point that I believe he will turn out to be the best of this field in time, I am hoping that he will be good enough and also fit enough to do himself justice this afternoon. If he was to lose it wouldn't put me off sticking by my prediction. The 2m4f trip should suit him and I am hoping for a good display of jumping today on his fencing debut

3.10 Aintree TAKE THE BREEZE 12-1 E.W (BOG)

This is not an easy race to solve but I am hopeful of a big run from Take The Breeze who starts off his campaign with a spin over hurdles. I am putting him up for similar reasons to why I selected Robinson Colognes yesterday who ran well (finished 3rd at 12-1). Take The Breeze has some quality form and a mark of 142 over the smaller obstacles looks workable if he is fit enough to do himself justice. Paul Nicholls had a mixed day yesterday but most of his ran very well indeed and I am hoping he can run in to a place at least. Harry Derham takes off a useful 7lbs and the 12/1 on offer is too big.

    3.45 Aintree TAKEROC 6-1 (BOG)

I am very interested in seeing how Takeroc gets on this afternoon. He is a horse I have followed for a while now and only a couple of seasons ago he was running off a mark of 161. He is obviously not as good as he once was and after a brief spell Hunter Chasing last season he returns to handicap company off what could be a lenient mark (135). Harry Derham takes the ride and gets on well with the horse. He has ridden him 5 times and the pair have the following figures when teaming up 41221. I would be very confident of him winning this race but I do fear Sports Line slightly as he is a very nice horse on his day and a mark of 140 doesn’t look beyond him.

How string is the info on the Reveley bumpers Dan? The one that's ben backed has some useful collateral form if you look through his debut run.

    2.08 Longchamp – CAVALRYMAN 20-1 E.W

Looking at this field it looks a below par Group one and I am most interested to see how Cavalryman gets on now upped to almost 2m. He seems to have lost a bit of speed over the last few years and having been campaigned over the 10 and 12f throughout his career it may well be worth giving him a chance now he takes this stamina test. Back in June 2011 he was only just beaten by Jukebox Jury, if returning to that level of form he would have leading claims here in my opinion.

    Hello lads.

Nice start to the day RV!

Haven't had a proper look yet..heads a bit scrambled after all the drink and dogging from last evening....might have picked up a chill..beastly weather to be running around with one's trousers down.

If Champion Court's jumping can be tidied up he could be a very decent recruit - powerful traveller who ran them ragged there. 2nd ran a good race too, Astracad was struggling with the penalty
