I still think that Mark Ashton could be an asset to a football club if he was managed properly. The man (dislike him, hate him or loathe him) is VERY good at brokering a deal. The problem that we had with him and now clearly repeating at Ipswich, has is that he wasn't MANAGED properly - in fact, he gets given too much power - which seems to go to his head. If he was in a job in which he worked FOR and UNDER the team manager - only going after deals that the MANAGER authorises/requests based upon information being fed back from the scouting network, then he could add value. He is very good at business deals - he just needs to be kept away from the actual football. He's a good executioner, but he keeps being given the Judge and Jury roles. Keep him firmly in his box and he'd do a useful job methinks.
