Swansea left-back linked January is approaching and with City likely to be active, the links are slowly starting to drip through with the first of which being Swansea City left-back Jake Bidwell. The Swansea Independent blog have reported that City and Birmingham City are interested in signing the 28-year-old who is out of contract next summer and unlikely to stay in South Wales. We're checking out the veracity of that claim but it does make sense that the Robins would be in the market for a senior left-back given Callum O'Dowda has been playing out of position at wing-back for the last four games, Cam Pring doesn't seem trusted as a starter in a back four and Jay Dasilva is out of favour. Bidwell has made 104 appearances for the Swans over the last two season, having signed from QPR in 2019 and was sent off at Ashton Gate after slicing through Niclas Eliasson in a 0-0 draw in September that year. please log in to view this image Jake Bidwell takes on Bournemouth's Jack Stacey (Photo by Athena Pictures/Getty Images)
I know it's a little off track from the intention of the thread but having watched quite a few F.A.Cup games over the last few days it came to my attention that so many hard working players are plying their trade in the lower leagues. To see the determination in their eyes and how they stretched every sinew to get their club the chance to get a next round draw against a top class club was quite refreshing. I suppose my point is based on information put out on this site that our scouting network, which apparently is made up of computer geeks and data analysts, means we are possibly neglecting even looking down in the lower leagues for talent. The most obvious example is Jamie Vardy and I'm sure there are many other gems floating around down in the deep that would grab the opportunity with all 3 hands given the chance. I feel that if we are looking at the likes of Jake Bidwell as someone who can help us to a better place then I think we may be barking up the wrong tree and forking out way too much in salaries. It's a fine line and the balance has to be right but I'm sure Nigel knows that fact all too well. Good luck man and don't forget to look behind each and every tree before the end of January.
From what I've seen and heard of Bidwell over the years he seems to be a solid player. For a striker I'd like us to have a punt on someone like Cole Stockton of Morcambe who is the top goal scorer in L1, or Michael Smith of Rotherham who we've been linked with before.

So far we are only linked with defenders.....Not where most of us on here feel we need improvement the most.
so need at least 2 strikers 2 wingers a left back and midfielder ...wow more than half a new team.....
will he waste money? [ his take on January! ] or will he wait ??? 25 games left, has won 7 drawn 5 =26 pts from 21 games ! replicate this and 4 games spare to avoid bottom 3. Can get the team gelling! and bring on a couple more youngsters then summer TW will be a more viable scenario ...........

Answer that with possibilities, Palmer, Wells, Simpson - Maybe Dasilva but with this Covid who can tell..
Palmer and Wells their contracts I think would make it difficult, not sure when Dasiva’s runs out, Simpson only has till the end of the season anyway. Thats the dilemma isn’t it, I agree pretty much these are the ones he’d like to get rid of though. January I think may be more interesting this year than normal.
