Good old UK injustice strikes yet again, an eye witness gave evidence to witnessing it and the injured party looked up and only Barton was in the vicinity.

The man is a total waste of space and time. Perhaps in time he will end up in a bad damp space.

Six day trial. The jury who took less than two hours to come to their unanimous verdict. When a jury returns that quickly .. Its decisive. Not guilty.

Cant argue with 10-0. Is that the first clean sheet of the season for the Gas?

I think jury trials have become a waste of time and money. Pretty much nobody wants to sit on juries, people are always trying to get out of jury service and some decisions beggar belief.

Part of the problem is as well is the decision to exclude evidence in trials. I read an article many years ago about a woman who had been raped by a man who was a known serial rapist eventually charged with multiple rapes and was on remand for her rape, he wrote a letter to his victim that the prison he was on remand at failed to intercept apologising and offering her money to drop the case, his barrister argued that the letter should not be offered as evidence because it would prejudice his clients case and the judge agreed FFS, it was now her word against his, the judge wouldn't even allow his previous convictions to used in evidence, the jury found him not guilty. The judge asked the jury to remain whilst he sentenced this person for the rapes that he had previously been found guilty of in an earlier trial, where the letter and and his previous convictions were read out, one of the jurors collapsed and several had to be taken out because they were so upset, no wonder rape allegations and convictions are so poor.

The lone witness could only see the back of the perpetrator so never saw his face.
The Barnsley manager looked up after being barged to the ground and the only person there was Barton.
Because neither mentioned Barton was wearing a cap deemed their statements inadmissible.
To the letter of the law it couldn't be proved beyond doubt it was Barton.

    Barton knows.

The next time he's up in court is the 16th this month for 'assaulting his wife'.
She will not testify against him, you have to wonder if she's worried/terrified if she did.

I'm amazed he's able to continue his job while all that's going on.....I know it's only the gas...but still.
He's been riddled with this sort of behavior and have never understood how he gets so many chances..

had the club sacked him... put on leave [ and rovers fell to bottom of it .. worse a temp manager took them to top ] and verdict was as was... then what a financial fiasco would follow.
A lot of wives do not testify against husband, either leaves or it settles down. A very high % of cases are not guilty/ no result or dropped before appearing.. MONEY for old rope for solicitors .... next case may have a big reliability on this last one ......
Waste of tax payers money really... will cost 10's and very high 10's if not a few 100's of £ooo's ....

I'm also amazed there has been no comment/statement anywhere from the board of Bristol Rovers.

They are probably embarrassed by the situation and hoping it's something in nothing and will all blow away......personally I think at some point it will end in tears!

    innocent until proven guilty.

Best thing was to stay out off it.

Believe me if he was guilty he would be fired-no other option.
