Fair enough, I think he does come across a little like a David Brent character at times. The video clip on the club's social media where he's running behind the goal after an away win, giving fans high fives and handshakes, was all too cringey for me. I'm aware he's got a bad reputation at Bristol City, but I'd argue he ultimately did a good job there.

The old stats indicate the trajectory we’re on and it’s downward unless more time was what was needed to turn it around.

we are now 20th in the league for shots on goal and same for shots on target.
all the top 6 teams are, well, in the top 6 apart from mk dons for those. And remember we are VERY attacking in terms of how we’re set up tactically and in terms of personnel. We’re not playing defenders as wingers. It’s all out with the big guns. But yet there’s been very little return for that approach.

I think players are starting to bicker on the pitch with each other too which is another bad sign they aren’t together tactically or otherwise.

I’m a ‘give the man time’ persuasion but I’m not seeing a growing system or team spirit on the evidence on the pitch and in the stats. And Xmas was my deadline to see that after all his big talk in the summer.

I do have sympathy that he hasn’t had the right players to play his way which is why I think he should have had one more window.

So MA better get this right next time or he’s bext in the firing line for me…

Mcgreals appointment makes sense to help Dyer and as he is here makes sense to be interim boss for short spell, I think Cooke has been on thin ice for a while in all honesty and the timing is perfect to give new boss time before January transfer window.

Somebody's got their knickers in a twist!! Personally i think it came a few weeks too late, tooooo set in his ways and tactically naive imo.

As for the new boss, I'm going all in for ........EMMA HAYES, she would do a great job!!

Interesting that quite a few in work managers had been on the phone, Klopp, Pepe perhaps! Who the hell is Emma Hayes Spanish?

I liked that MA came out to talk, and while a little cringeworthy at times, he spoke well and gave decent account of himself as Chief Exec. Clearly they wanted more time and this next man wiltbe their choice, not Evans. Such an open and swift presence was not something that Evans was noted for. He emphasised that we are a big club, and he had professional honest chats with the players. It was clearly on the cards after a run of poor performances. That said, he was still hopeful about the play-offs., so hasnt written off this season.

For many fans it will be interesting to see how McGreal & Dyer work with the senior experienced pros.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a fresh out of the blocks approach, even a change of format, and hopefully players playing in their preferred positions.

Ah, Chelsea women manager, that would be a breath of fresh air, but doubt she would be interested in League 1 club. Top of her Tree it seems.

She has won **** loads in the game, very well respected for her knowledge of the game, i think it would be a brilliant appointment. I guess there is always the niggling doubt that the players would respect her but I think she would demand respect!

I think it would be a good appointment, but I don’t think it would be just the players not respecting her….as soon as things didn’t go right many fans would be right on her.. I’m sure she could handle it but I don’t think I could stomach seeing a group of fans screaming abuse at a woman ….maybe I’m old fashioned….that said that shouldn’t stand in the way of her having the opportunity if she fancies it.

I am old fashioned too but fair play Topbunk, by and large, I am sure Town fans would respect her, except the usual idiots on social media. Not sure how many testosterone fuelled men teams she has managed.

Can’t be a female. Sorry. I want women to manage the men’s pro teams because it’s an untapped resource of talent. But it’s too soon to try that with us now. And I can’t bear the extra abuse they’d get from the weirdos and low lives. We’ve already seen some tough to watch footage of Troy and he’s not alone.

why can’t we get the good ship ITFC sailing on a steadier course with a male right now and where there’s more choice of appropriately skilled people right now but start promoting women within the coaching set ups at clubs to grow a whole bunch of potential candidates to step up in future? I’d think that’s more sustainable as a phased transition to this progressive attitude than throwing one lady in at the deep end now with some trigger happy yanks in charge.

as I said, managers always go and they do for one of 3 reasons and I’d hate to see her fail for the damage it would do for the progress in the sport for female coaches and managers.

but I’d love to see us be the first to appoint a lady and smash our way to footballing glory.

Do we not think it a little sexist to say that it can't be a woman because it would be horrible to see her get abused. I think someone like Emma Hayes is more than capable of handling any abuse/pressure, just like any male boss is able to do so!! She is one person that i think could take it in her stride!

I just want somebody to succeed. If John gets us playing well there's no reason he shouldn't get it full time.

Yes it probably is. After all I wouldn’t say ‘don’t appoint a coloured manager in case he gets racially abused’ so it’s a fair point. It doesn’t stop me feeling very uncomfortable at what could transpire with such a radical appointment and it’s more to do with the idea of growing the nimber of women in the game before they start to have a critical mass and can run for the top jobs alongside men.

Mcgreal could turn out great. Burley did and he had nothing more than a stint at col u under his belt….

I am sure Bucky is right, at this critical, surprising stage of fresh development, prob unwise to appoint a female. Best to transition (!) the football league & our club into promoting & bringing them on, change the culture, support training & familiarisation, then appoint a no 2.

I said something very similar just a few weeks ago. Why would she come to Town though, even if she fancied the project, to have absolutely no job security?
