Jacob Rees-Mogg not declaring £6 million in director's loans? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-59491565 Who'd have thunk it
No wonder huge numbers of folk in this country have no respect left for our politicians. A week before last Christmas, when almost all of us cancelled visits to family, what were they doing at No. 10? Having an illegal Xmas bash of course. Grub, booze and party games for dozens of guests Was Dominic Cummings there? I bet he was. And they're not even denying it now. One rule for us, another for the Elite. And Prime Ministers's Question Time is now so infantile, chaotic and pointless, it would make most seven year olds blush. Absolute drivel from the PM, cheered on by his supporters. A bunch of braying baboons who earn more in a week than most of us do in a month (not counting their other incomes) and don't care what morons they come across as, waving bits of paper and insulting each other joyously. What a cage full of useless bloody loonies.
And well done the WTA https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/59498779 Shame on the IOC. Shame on Lord Coe.
But who puts them all there ? People who vote for them do. We need real change, not just a Labour/Conservative/Lib Dem merry go round.
We've needed change for about 100 years. Here's what I would do if it were my choice; A new three house Parliament building fit for the 21st & 22nd centuries in London. Each chamber to be circular as all modern debating chambers are. An identical building in the North somewhere. Parliament to alternate between the two buildings, maybe every 6 months. Abolition of the House of Lords. Replacement of Lords with a PR second house. A third house of experts and advisors - no voting power, but power to publish recommendations. Total detachment of Parliament from all religious influence. Abolition of silly traditional wigs and tights and banging on doors. Turn the current Parliament building into a living museum, a bit like the Tower of london. Plenty of colourful stuff for the tourists, nothing more.
Seems that men's tennis authority ATP is more concerned about keeping its snout in the Chinese trough than showing solidarity with the WTA. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/59502169 Well done to those male tennis players who have spoken out against it
kind of current affairs / charlton all in one. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52699018 - andrew barclay up to no good.
"Sir Frederick, the elder twin by 10 minutes, and his daughter Amanda are suing Sir David Barclay's sons - Alistair, Aidan and Howard, Aidan's son Andrew, and Philip Peters, a board director of the Barclay group for invasion of privacy, breach of confidence and data protection laws."
The Speaker has asked the Met to investigate widespread cocaine use in Westminster on the same day as the government gets tough on middle-class recreational drug users. So JR-M will be OK, he's upper class, Angela Rayner will be OK, she's working class.
It's not necessarily many MPs, but there is an army of minions who work in that dreadful new building across the road from Parliament, as well as the Gothic horror itself. Not difficult to imagine that cocaine culture prevails there. I should think it's a minority who don't snort it up day and night.
The Chinese are being difficult - as usual... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-59559703 Retaliation? What are they going to do - force a few more female athletes to go to bed with their President? It's a good thing that they remind us from time to time how differently they run their country. And how we will never submit to living the way that they make their people live.
What should Boris do at PMQ's today? a) Keep lying about the non-party b) Come clean and apologise c) Make his excuses and let Dominic Raab take the flak.
He'll bluster, and probably not even make any sense I expect. Nothing new there then. Yes he got B****t done, though three blokes in a pub could have made a better job of it. But what else has this Government delivered? The vaccine rollout One great achievement, among a lengthy catalogue of blunders and rule-breaking. In a country with the highest death toll in Europe by a country mile. Care homes infected by patients leaving hospitals un-tested. The PPE crisis. And let's not forget the £48 BILLION wasted on a check & trace system that didn't work. And as for levelling up Don't make me laugh. They're the ones laughing - at us. The Plebs. The little people who do as they're told while Tory cronies live it up and just do as they please. Well to the lot of them.
It's all very dispiriting. This Government has no credibility whatsoever. However the opposition front bench leaves no room for hope that a change of Government would do the country any good. The possibilities of what could result from this lack of credibility in the elected representatives is quite worrying and I am glad to be in my final years.
Boris pays lip service by saying he finds that video of his sneering PR woman joking about the party "sickening". Then he denies yet again that there ever was a party. This is right up there with him saying Dominic Cummings did nothing wrong by taking a 300 mile trip and doing some sight-seeing during the first lockdown. I think ever growing numbers of people have had enough of his dishonesty. That cheeky chappy charm has worn very thin. Hey Kate and Wills - we need another Royal baby to cheer us all up (not a Royal who behaves like a baby Harry)
He was asked by a back-bencher if there was a party in Downing St. on a specific date in November, and his reply was that there wasn't, and that no rules were broken. Like Billy Bunter "I didn't eat the cake and it tasted horrible".
Bird Flu is now rampant across the country - worse than it's ever been before. Usually that would be a massive story itself. But Omicron and rule-breaking have eclipsed it.
