To be fair, Clapton covering it brought Bob to the attention of the wider musical public and his career took off after it, as well as giving him a huge cash boost from the royalties.
    End of off-topic sideshow!

It was to lighten the mood a tad seeing the comments flying around leaving Lovecrum feeling "unloved," something that we can all feel when our comment is met with apparent hostility from his perspective. I know because I have been in the same situatión, and when lógic is applied, often it is self-inflicted.

A few times on here the Ralph outers have said that they don't need to offer an alternative, they just want him out because of x, y & z. Oh and the club should have potential suiters lined up. Maybe they have and maybe that is the issue, there is no-one on their radar that isn't as much of a risk as he was when he took over. Yes there are unknowns with the potential to be the next Poch, but they can also become the next Pellegrino just as easily. Why take the chance on a club's financial future on a "oh he may be better than Ralph" and that 4 out of 81 on a football forum think so? We are all entitled to opinions obviously, but IMO there is a larger picture here - you can't just get rid of the manager everytime something doesn't go slightly to plan.

He has his faults, but I will say it again, if he didn't he wouldn't still be with us.

Let's not forget for all his faults, he has kept us in the Premier League fro 3 years and has shown us some good football.

The answer to the question if a striker wasn't performing then we would replace him is a moot point. There are 9 other outfield players to take up the slack if the striker is crap. You change manager and it is a whole culture upheaval in the club.

I think we are never ever all going to agree on this (a good thing as what a boring place the forum and life would be), and all the 'Ralph in' people are saying is look at the bigger picture.

I'm not going to get political, but I remember posters on here championing Brexit as the next best thing. That has worked out well hasn't it (ok i did get political :) )

Agreed, over the years I and others have said things that either everyone has disagreed on or have been stupid - that is why we are here to debate. FWIW i find @Lovelocum one of the friendliest posters on here.

Don't you think you need to give Brexit five years before deciding

That's why we all love football, game of opinions. I do think Redmond has been good these last few games but not consistent enough over the years. Also think the tens are charged with creating in this formation and don't create enough. Also the scoring record of our tens is very poor.

    Absolutely.

I think the tens do create though. Whether they're great chances, I dunno, but they're enough to win games. Agreed on the scoring record of the tens though, that needs to get better.

For a different thread, but I will admit I am pretty blinkered on this one and it will take a lot of convincing to think otherwise. I think it is a self inflicted disaster. My political views (unlike the majority on here probably) are just right of centre and I still think this way.

To bring it back on topic, I am not so blinkered with Ralph, but I feel changing Ralph to see if we could get better would be a self inflicted disaster too.

Way I look at it, Ralph is a long way from perfect, and as you rightly said, if he was he wouldn't be with us.

But if you look at supposedly elite managers given an average squad and no money - Benitez and Bielsa - they're really struggling to polish a turd. Ralph has an average squad and no money. He's struggling at points, but we're going fine, and I think improving. We're inches and minimal decisions away from making that squad a top half team. He's doing a good job, and I don't see someone coming in and doing better under those constraints (as shown by Benitez and Bielsa).

For me, if we were going to be mental and change manager, are we going to get someone in that's better than Benitez or Bielsa. I don't believe so, no. And they're not going to be improving on Ralph looking at them under the same conditions.

Missed it the first time, as you say right on the button. The Hassenhutl/Semmens/Crocker regime has made improvements to the team and structure of the club, patience is needed as the polishing continues.

    Doesn't everyone think that? <laugh>
