Cressida Dick has said that if she receives a letter of complaint about the No.10 Christmas party last year, the Met will undertake an investigation.

Couldn't she just ask the copper that stands by the door?

Says a lot about Caressed-a-dick’s response times if she’s only now contemplating last year’s No10 Xmas shindig, Strollyplops.

When I was young, people used to regard with horror, Victorian times when children grew up in work houses and/or were sent up chimneys. People cried over stories by Charles Dickens about children barefoot with wicked stepfathers who handed out corporal punishment.

Yet now we have a stepmother torturing a six year old child over months, force feeding him salt, beating him until covered in bruises and limping, before murdering him by crushing his skull. And there are others. We seem to be going backwards. RIP Arthur Labinjo-Hughes

I see that the government have yet again broken another manifesto pledge, hidden away in the small print of the budget. Doing away with the minimum 18 month assesment for disabled people. Saving an estimated 70m quid.
I have a really, really simple solution and a money saver all in one. No need to pay private companies millions to asses the claimants, just have a consultant or doctors note of diagnosis. Simples.
My mrs has had MS for 15 years. It isnt going away, there is no cure, it is progressive yet a retired dentist last assesed her. The system is shocking and it was under a labour government too.

It's despicable. There's no punishment in our legal system that can get anywhere near close to the punishment that witch deserves. There's already stories floating about that she's getting death treats and regular bullying whilst in prison - long may that continue. I'd love ten minutes in a dark cell with the bitch

It’s a good argument against capital punishment. She’ll probably get murdered anyway but however long she lives it’s going to be about as miserable as it gets.

In my opinion it’s actually a strong argument for capital punishment. I don’t want to live in a world where we condone or enjoy the knowledge that people like this woman will be harangued, threatened, assaulted or even herself brutally murdered by other prisoners. I don’t want other undesirable scum to do my ‘dirty work’ in their savage lawless way. No, a swift humane execution after due process is always a more civilised outcome to me than wishing to mete the crimes perpetrated by this awful human being with the same.

According to The Times, Rishi Sunak is promising to ‘slash’ taxes before the next election - perhaps 2p off income tax, a reduction to VAT and/or more generous inheritance tax.

Confused me a bit. I thought the government had racked up massive spending through the pandemic and said we have to raise National Insurance to pay for keeping the NHS and Social Care barely afloat. And if interest rates go up a lot of government spending will go on servicing debt.

So how come he can afford to cut tax? The motivation is obvious - the short term bribe to voters, coupled with the ideological commitment that the very rich (in Sunak’s case he married his wealth) have to paying as little tax as possible. Of course it will be afforded by ‘slashing’ public services, loading the grief on those who can least afford it, as always.

They will get in again, of course. The English are a nation of masochists.

Low tax Sunak has raised taxes to their highest level in something like 75 years. Someone has to pay for those Deloitte consultants and Dido Harding’s efforts.

Good, logical thinking Ubes. The only thing I would say is, in relation to capital punishment for murder generally, it may be necessary to think about grading the necessary burden of proof between the current "beyond reasonable doubt" as now, and "case certain" as in this case. There have been several murder convictions based on circumstantial evidence where the conviction is later overturned as unsafe, and even where the true killer is then caught using modern DNA techniques etc. At least the wronged person is around to be freed.

Indeed. It’s a complicated area. It’d never happen, of course. The same people that are happy for our police to shoot first and ask questions afterwards, that are happy for our government and it’s allies to order our armed forces to drop bombs on Middle Eastern or North African countries from 30,000 feet, and would be happy for people such as this evil woman to be thrown to the wolves in prison would not allow capital punishment’s restoration for fear that an innocent person may be put to death.

Anyway, that’s my lot on capital punishment. It’s been discussed on here many times before. Like most ‘political’ subjects, you’re either over here or over there and precious few ever make the journey to the other side following debate.
