Lottery cash for it also. Better than waiting for the elements and arsonists to destroy a listed building.
I can understand the residents of Ferriby being a bit worried, it's enormous (well over half a million square feet) and it's operating day and night every single day of the year, with 2,500 lorry movements per day. Still, it was never going to be rejected, it brings with it at least 1,300 permanent jobs. please log in to view this image
Watching Look North at lunchtime, some of the protesters were actually calling as to whether there are actually 1300 jobs available and the danger to children using the footpaths around Ferriby accessing South Hunsley school. I think that point has been missed totally... let alone the air quality and one small slip road onto the A63. But as has been said ERYCC will see this as a huge windfall cash cow and wont care about the fallout... Also on LN was inside new HoH... did look very Selfridge'y'.... will it catch on.. is Hull ready for it..?
There's all sorts of proposals for businesses west of Hull because of the access to the A63 and the A15 - Humber Bridge & Bridgehead at Ferriby end of Hessle for example. Ferriby residents have been fighting off various residential and business development proposals for years, and while I may have some sympathy for residents that may be directly overlooking the site, we need houses and we need jobs and Ferriby is no more special than any other place locally.
I think there should be a look at kids routes from South Hunsley to Ferriby etc now. Terrifies me seeing them crossing the slip roads up from Ferriby onto the roundabouts to Melton etc.
Glad I don’t live in North Ferriby. On the plus side their Prime deliveries should be super quick. Swings and roundabouts.
It was dodgy enough when I did exactly that back in the late 70s until I left after 5th form in 1980.
