A nice, comfortable 4-0 win with no drama will make me happy. Everton though, what is it - 1 point from the last 6 games? They're going to be even more desperate than ever to get something out of this.
certainly lost a few so are under huge pressure Brentford 1 Everton 0 Man city 3 Everton 0 Everton 0 Spurs 0 (red card for holgate) Wolves 2 Everton 1 Everton 2 Watford 5 Everton 0 West ham 1 Man utd 1 Everton 1 the trend seems a loack of goals first and concending the odd one. Its not a hammering anywhere par se and with 5 of those 7 games shown being "top 8" clubs they are on a triacky run. The watford result was disastrous, they were 2-1 up going into the last 15mins......
Everyone expects us to lose, and that’s likely what’ll happen, but Klopp doesn’t like coming to Goodison imo. Ideal opportunity for Rafa this.
This game is very, very tricky. Players are going to rally around Rafa Benitez. Merseyside Derby always unpredictable.
Reckon Rafa will survive if he you guy lose heavily? Fans already don’t like him, can’t imagine a big defeat against us would go down well with recent results, even without his connections to us.
Sacking him would be ridiculous. We were doing fine then our best defender - Mina, and our best player this season - Doucoure got injured. He was already without our only real striker, what were these supposed fans expecting? I’ve no great love for Rafa, but he’s a quality proven manager and blaming him for the state of our current squad changes and achieves nothing.
I’d imagine those fans are ones that will never be one over by him no matter what he does though. Unfortunate you’ve lost the spine of your team at same time and had 2m to spend on the summer on 2 players who started the season on fire. As you say, state of your squad just isn’t good enough to compete for Europe atm. Why the lack of investment, thought Moshri was loaded and pumping money into the club? All gone on the stadium plans?
Also yes maybe ridiculous sacking him. But do you think the board might cave to fan pressure as there will be vocal fans calling for him to go
FFP. We lost circa £250m in the previous 2 financial years. The PL limit is £103m over 3 seasons. We could use stadium costs and COVID to account for a chunk of it, but we were apparently given a warning shot and told to comply. Hence no spending this summer, and ridding the wage bill of dead wood. There’ll be **** all to spend in Jan either as it’ll form part of the same financial year. Next summer (assuming we stay up) Moshiri will go again.
I hope not as he’s not been give a fair crack at it yet and who replaces him? Moshiri hasn’t been shy in ****ing off managers in the past, but they’d all spunked a chunk of his cash and deserved it. Rafa needs time and some cash.
Strange. All clubs were losing money but doesn’t seem to have affected others spending. Looking at last 2 season signings, 19/20 108m spent 79m received. Last year 67m spent, 4m received. net spend 92m so nothing too drastic
The accounts aren’t about net spend in a season though, it’s amortisation and wages that matter and we were towing money. Wages were 85% of turnover.
