Not as easy as I and a lot of us thought it was going to be, but will take this 1-0 win all day long!

Never managed to watch the game, but from what I heard on the radio we did not play brilliantly, but got the result anyway :)

Obertan is beginning to make me feel like he should be dropped - very lacklustre and same for Best tbh - maybe not as much as Obertan, but Hatem and Marveaux to start instead of them now like!

Wigan's 3 man midfield seemed to make it quite hard for our 2 man midfield - so with Hatem there I think it would be the way forward. Our next 5 games are looking quite hard, would probably faint if we were still unbeaten after all of them lol, but will still enjoy it while it lasts :)

Also, just watching Sky Sports News and Charlie Nicholas has pointed out that we have not been tested yet - YAWN!!!

BA gave the ball away more times in the time he was on than obertan did in the whole game.

BUT he did look lively and marv was involved in the goal that was CABAYE and thats enough for me to start him next match.

I'm really confused why everyone thinks that HBA should start, especially if we are basing squad selection on form. Best may not have been on top form today however Hatem didn't earn his place for me. He was sloppy in possession and needs to learn to release the ball sooner. Saying that, i'd have him or Marv start ahead of Obertan all day long, as he was appalling again today. In fact, i'd rather play a turnip on the wing.

Exactly, I have been sticking up for Obertan, but against Stoke we need to stick Hatem and definetly Marv in! Marveaux ooses class by the looks of things and so does Hatem - although it will take him a few games to get back to his best; seems to be trying to impress too much

I think the problem was we tried to just play the way we like and Wigan where ready for it. mid-field got very congested and we didn't have the extra man so left it.

When benny came on it freed up tiote and Cabaye and made them give away free kick after free kick.

Every games a test more so if you "should" be winning, last year might have lost.

Hatem needs games to get back to his best imo. Think it looks as though he is trying to impress a bit too much

Marveaux looks sharp, BA still gets too excited being on the ball but makes our attack much more potent.

Exactly - I think we would probably have lost this game last year

Agree with this. He's evidently a gifted player. I've just posted on another thread though that i'm not sure that starting him against Stoke of all teams would be a good idea. He will get crushed!

This is really getting on my tits now. Lee Dixon said we won't really know how good we are until we face Man U and Man City away. What the ****? Apart from Chelsea every team will expect to lose those two games, all it will confirm is that we're not in contention for the title, it proves **** all else so as no one is predicting that it basically will prove **** all.

If Charlie Nicholas thinks Arsenal and Spurs aren't a test he must have pretty high expectations for us.

3 points will do me anytime. Look forward to seeing Ben Arfa, Marv and Santon v Rovers. If they impress they may start v Stoke. Shoal and Gosling will also start in the LC.

3 more points to our haul today, good times. Last season we'd have drawn that.

When people say BA, is that Ben Arfa or Ba?

I've just given up listening to them now. We'll get the same crap spouted on MOTD too, then, when (most likely) we get beat by City and Utd, all the pundits will rejoice in saying how we've had a reality check and that we're pretty dirge. It's bloody irritating.

I think Hatem played good today, unlucky not to score a very good goal, but don't want him starting at Stoke. As for Marveaux, every time he gets 15 minutes he never fails to impress me and should start against Stoke replacing Obertan, who's final product is getting ****ter by the game. As for Ba and Best, they were quiet today, and didn't impress me one bit. Ameobi held the ball well. Cabaye what a goal man :D

Charlie Nicholas is a ****ing twat just like the majority of pundits. Honestly pisses me off how much the tired old line about Newcastle not being tested/getting lucky etc gets repeated in the media.

We're third after 9 games, completely unbeaten. We've beaten Arsenal, Spurs and Villa - all solid teams and Merson, Dixon, Nicholas and co. can politely **** off with their idiotic opinions.

Well we have played nine teams so far so if we haven't been tested it means he must think we are at least the 11th best team in the league. Funny that as he was one of the muppets predicting we would be lucky to avoid relegation.

Charlie Nicholas has **** for brains!
