I've seen this a few times from different people.

My question is why does he have to come across as a spoilt kid? How about he gets rid and comes across as a ruthless owner who won't settle for 2nd best, mediocre performance at his club?

Whoever comes to SAFC, needs to know that the club WILL NOT settle for 2nd best in this league and only the best will do. We are Sunderland FFS, yes we are where we are because we deserve to be but it shouldn't mean we have to act like Accrington Stanley and lower our expectations. We are currently looking at the real possibility of a 5th year in League 1, is that really acceptable? Because the feeling I get from a lot of fans messages on this board is that it is. If the fans have no expectation then the club won't, simple. I honestly can't get my head around some people who say it's a slow process and another year in this league wouldn't be all that bad! Mental!

FWIW, Spurs have had 4 (5 if you count caretaker Ryan Mason) managers since 2019 and the last one lasted all of 4 or 5 months, is Levy a spoilt old man?. They still managed to get another top manager in. Yes they're PL but they haven't got a reputation for sacking managers at the drop of a hat.

FEIW Levy is ruthless. But he sacks managers at the wrong times gds Leo hires incorrect replacements. Spurs may be on their 5th manager due to his “ruthlessness” but they’re in the exact position they were in 2019 if not worse. That said, I do think Conte will get a tune out of them. Swings and roundabouts for me

It's a tough one like. If we continue to drift and don't make a change and the season just phases out, it will be a tough sell to get 30k back and keep the feel good factor of new ownership. Momentum is huge in football and fans.

I love Sunderland and always will, enjoy going to the game with my little lad but the football is terrible and seems to be getting worse. I’m not sure another season in L1 sounds appealing. Weekend time is valuable when grafting all week, sometimes away from home.

Is that because you are looking for a manager you would like to have, rather than a manager who could get us out of this s hit hole.

Very few of them would be a good fit with the (for want of a better phrase) Speakman set up. Rosler, Farke, and Xisco maybe. Garry Monk at a push. I wouldn't be happy if we replaced Johnson with someone from that list. It would either mean ripping the plan up and throwing it away or replacing him with someone who's not going to be that different.

With my limited Knowledge of whos available I'd have Daniel Farke in a heartbeat.
Need to hurry though looks like he might be going back to Germany.

Totally agree mate, but sooner rather than later we need to get out of this league, and going by their CVs Warnock fits the bill, sad to say.

The club has been crying out for something like the Speakman set up for years. We've had no direction and fallen behind the rest of the teams we should be on par with. I can't see Warnock working within the set up. I think he'd be a massive backward step in the long term, whether he achieved promotion in the short term or not.

My hope is that Johnson quickly gets it right (which I doubt)and we go on a long winning run and he proves the doubters wrong. I know it's a dream! What will really happen is he will get sacked, new manager appointed and this time next year his head will be on chopping block!!!!

By sacking him we just end up back in the same cycle. Patience is a virtue- its notable that the three most successful managers in English football, Alex Ferguson, George Ramsay, and Arsene Wenger, were all in the posts they're best known for for upwards for 20 years. Famously Ferguson and Ramsay didn't win their first league titles for 6 and 7 years respectively.
Our new set up is designed that the head coach can be replaced easily without disrupting the direction, style, and philosophy of the club. The two most famous exponents of that system are Ajax and Barcelona. However, the two identified progenitors of those systems are Rinus Michels at Ajax and Johan Cruyff at Barcelona (although Michels was there before him obviously). Michels had 6 years in charge of Ajax and Cruyff had 8 years (in two spells; Michels had 6 years in two spells at Barca) at Barcelona to bed those systems in. It all takes time.
We're an underachieving club in an unfashionable part of the country, not dissimilar to many other clubs. We have to do something to make ourselves stand out. This could be it but it has to be done properly. At some point, we have to give a manager time.
