Seeing as the stats from the past few games, where we'd lost heavily, showed that we'd dominated possession, created good chances and conceded sloppy goals (on the basis of xG), the basic stats from the game can be considered very encouraging. They suggest that we were much more clinical in front of goal and much tighter at the back than in the last few weeks.
Said it a few games back win your home games draw your away games - how we are doing against other teams up to now Plymouth are on par ,Wigan are on par, SAFC 1 point down, Wycombe 2 points down, Rotherham 3 points down,MK Dons 4 points down , Sheffield Weds 5 points down, Oxford 8 points down, Portsmouth 10 points down, Ipswich 12 points down. Changes quite a lot but despite our BLIP we are still well placed and reflects that despite the doom mongers having panic attacks that we are up their with the best . We have to build on this and we are capable of stringing wins together if we can gain a bit of confidence as a consequence . Haway the Lads !!!
Try me again come April. Turning points in our season have mostly been those where we stop, turn to look around from our lofty position near the mountain top then promptly trip over our own feet and fall into a crevasse!
I'm feeling really positive about tonight and Cambridge. There are hardly any reasons why I should be, but for some reason I think we've turned a corner and will start putting some teams to the sword. That probably means a defeat tonight, but I'm a glass half full person.
Makes nee difference we are ****e, **** of Johnson now never good enough for this club, should have went in May get Di canio back at least he showed passion.
IF we win our next one that will (somehow) be 7 from 3 games and normally we would accept that and look forward. as things stand we not only HAVE to win we HAVE to win in style and not scraping along for the last half hour, anything less in the current climate will not be accepted. again though with that said we will take the three points should we get them however they land...actually, feck it..i no longer *care if we play in reverse all game and only win due to a dodgy penalty or lucky own goal as long as we get the hell out of this league and can start to build properly, stagnating is not helping anyone. (*i reserve the right to alter my stance at any given opportunity)
We have to win at Cambridge even if the decision to sack Johnson is already in KLD's mind. This squad is more than good enough to win the league. Plymouth, Wigan etc have all shown how average they can be ... ... Saturday is a big day for all of us.
