Tuesday the 15th, lets talk about our number 15 - Nedum Onuoha. With reports he wants to stay, but SAFC may be unwilling to meet City's asking price of anything between £6-8m, we look at whether he's worth that... with the aid of Stats and wotnot...

    Thanks for reading.

I like him, can play RB or CB still young for a defender, but £8m? seems a bit steep, and I wouldn't of thought City need the money!

    Morning lads

I asked a very similar question yesterday and I personally think he is good but not that good.

Great athlete but not great on the ball (apart from the wonder goal & his cross for Bent at Liverpool)

Jury is still out for me boys!

    8 Million ~ No
    5 Million ~ Yes

I think anything from £6-8m is good business.

He's very solid, and while there's still room to improve, he's got the years in him to do it. For that price, for a 24 year old Englishman... good value.

For maybe £6m. yes but I read somewhere that Hutton was going for around £5m.
With SB buying players like Sess for £6m. I would think that should be the limit for Ned, I'd like us to sign him but much more and we're getting to fee's that would get a better player.

Still, SB has done us proud in the transfer market so I reckon we'll get Ned at a lower price than most of us would expect.

Not good enough for the price IMO.

We were apparently quoted £9m for Hutton in the summer. Having played more frequently for Spurs now, I can't imagine Spurs suddenly selling for nearly half that.

Any fee for Onuoha will be under £10m, which means it can down as 'undisclosed' either way, so we'll probably never know. If he does indeed sign.

I'm firmly in the camp that he should stay, I think he's doing good now, and will get better with age and experience.

I think Hutton would suit our style of play better and if he is to be made available then we should snap him up, that said, Ned is a solid defender who is obviously happy to stay so if we can get him then we should. Let Quinn sort the numbers out.

Thats if Quinn is still here in the summer of course !!
Think he needs to pipe down a bit IMO.
The MAGS are loving this !

    Roker report.
The £5m. I came up with was on BBC teletext gossip yesterday.(338)
I guess he's nearing the end of his contract.
It was a foreign club but it's only gossip so make of it what you will.
I would be happy if we signed either of them although I guess Ned, being there and saying the right things has edged it (although Hutton also expressed a desire to stay)

I think we had our chance with Hutton in the summer..... we failed to meet the asking price and since then he has become a big part in the spuds season... so unlikely to get him now....

Ned has his moments.... sometimes gets dragged out of position..... but he is potentially an improving asset.... and no one can forget that goal

Would be a good permanent signing.... IMHO and worth a punt at £6ish m

I think those stats back up that Ned IS worth £6-8million.

It's correct to assume the lowest one of the other 3 would go for is circa £12million, Ned is certainly worth roughly half of that, i'd have him over Johnson in a blink, and i'd probably have him ahead of Sagna as well, with much deliberation.

Ivanovic is superb, but then, we're not chasing Chelsea, we're chasing Spurs and Liverpool.

As Ive said before, I enjoy the Roker Report, but at five to six mill, yes over that no, the transfer window in the summer, I believe will be wide open for players of his ability. at around the five mill bracket, by the way, got sauce, but no sourses.

I'd love to get him for £5m or around that, but I won't be particularly gutted if we have to pay more.
