London Labour Councillor expelled for being a Socialist.

Her final crime was giving an interview to a magazine called Socialist Appeal in 2020, which is now forbidden, although it wasn't at the time.


A councillor claims she has been expelled from the Labour Party after giving an interview to a socialist newspaper which has been banned by the party.

Harrow councillor Pamela Fitzpatrick, who stood for the Harrow East seat in parliament at the 2019 General Election, announced her expulsion at the weekend.

She said she was kicked out of the party for speaking to newspaper Socialist Appeal in May 2020 about her bid for the role of General Secretary.

Contact with the paper was banned under the current Labour leadership this summer. Cllr Fitzpatrick said her punishment has been applied retrospectively.

She argued the decision comes as part of a campaign from those in prominent positions within Labour to get rid of those who consider themselves socialists.

Cllr Fitzpatrick said she and others have been subject to years of “abuse and harassment” for their views, which has led many to resign from positions within the party or quit altogether.

Attack on the City puts EU competitiveness at risk, Brussels told.

“It is part of an overall trend we are seeing from the EU which is to use regulation, and this is a tightening up of their regulation, to shift activity into the EU. It is going to make it more costly for financial services institutions, and that cost may be passed to the customer,” she said.

City of London handed major Brexit prize as hated EU rules thrown on scrap heap.

In an 80-page document the Treasury announced that it plans to scrap EU laws retained after Brexit but no longer deemed appropriate. Instead, the finance sector will see new rules drawn up by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. By scrapping the existing EU rules the regulators will be able to come up with requirements more suited to the UK market.

JK Rowling refuses to be intimidated after activists pose outside her home.

The Harry Potter author has attracted criticism for her views on transgender rights, tweeting that she has received “so many death threats I could paper the house with them”.

Taking to Twitter, she added: “Over the last few years I’ve watched, appalled, as women like Allison Bailey, Raquel Sanchez, Marion Miller, Rosie Duffield, Joanna Cherry, Julie Bindel, Rosa Freedman, Kathleen Stock and many, many others, including women who have no public profile but who’ve contacted me to relate their experiences, have been subject to campaigns of intimidation which range from being hounded on social media, the targeting of their employers, all the way up to doxxing and direct threats of violence, including rape.

“None of these women are protected in the way I am. They and their families have been put into a state of fear and distress for no other reason than that they refuse to uncritically accept that the socio-political concept of gender identity should replace that of sex.”
