    Frog off !
The Political pages are full of nonsense from the French Government - how they 're going to cause problems at border controls - to delay goods coming to the UK...... something to do with 'fishing rights.'....The UK should be 'concerned' - the French have a history of such 'industrial action.' ---

It's a pity that they are unable to control their borders when it comes to being able to stop the illegal immigrants from leaving French territory or the French coastline....... Perhaps the goods coming to the UK should be put into dinghies - The French turn a blind eye to these crafts.

I believe Kelman did start next match after mk game and again was poor so taken off for Sithole who was more effective. You could say Sithole could have played more aswell as looked more useful than Kelman. Kelman has not scored since 2019/20 season, not many games granted but not very good for a forward.

gioblues - Thank you for your opinion. We've all got personal opinions (( good and bad )), regarding our squad - where, probably an 'average' of those opinions would probably be fair..... I wasn't actually suggesting that Kelman ( or many others in the squad ), wasn't immune to criticism for performances this season...... otherwise we'd be sitting top of the league !!

I am probably more critical of some ( if not all ), of the players, than Evans could be - ever! The issue, regarding Kelman, is not the accuracy of the assessment of Kelman by Evans.... I am condemning the public humiliation Kelman received from Evans.... That's not to say that any 'beasting' that needs to be given - shouldn't be given - just do it in the dressing room - or the manager's office.

(( In my opinion )) Evans has embarrassed himself - and the Club, by the way he treated Kelman to a 'Dictatorial' style of authority and discipline - perhaps he fancies being a football club chairman !

Woke ! - it might be more factually correct to remove the K from the word !............... now strap in for a tale of Woe from your resident FishWIFE

I need to begin by reminding viewers that probably, my 'dearest' friends are female (from birth) - you may appreciate that fact later in this post.

It seems that you can no longer call a spade, a 'spade!' - you'll upset certain sections of society - as well as all the shovels in your (person)shed.
In cricket, we now only have 'Batters' - What's wrong with 'Batsman /woman/person - instead of using a word associated with cooking- that's just batty !....... Anglers are called 'Fishers' - is that just in case you upset any 'Fisherwomen' ?.... It's all very confusing.

I understand that society may be trying to not discriminate or 'offend' anyone who may be Trans this, that or the other - but- are we going too far to be seen as 'politically correct.'
I admire the fact that sportspeople 'take the knee' as a sign of support against discrimination - but, as usual footballers make a mockery of respecting their opponents - or, as I say respect for everyone who has earned it....... My philosophy would allow for justifiable criticism and sanction against anyone, or regime that needs to be 'oppressed!' - without fear of being accused of crimes against a 'phobia' of some description or other.

You all know that I am not averse to 'voicing' (critical) opinion on ALL subjects - not just about The Gills... but - I do try to use some logic and reason in my argument..... However, it seems that you can't open your mouth these days - unless you say what people want to hear - instead of the painful truth....... and you can't have 'banter' with anyone - because people have become so sensitive and devoid of a sense of humour-------------------------- so I discovered yesterday.....

On Monday, I went to have a game of indoor bowls - at a centre which has a 'ladies' keep fit class in an upper room. I usually arrive about the same time as the women have finished their session - and come to the bar of the place (( just as I am trying to get a drink ))... These females ( around 8-10 in number ), gather at the bar ( not in an orderly queue ), and one of them usually orders their drinks.... and as you can imagine, it takes a few minutes...... Now, if I get there after these people, I wait patiently for my turn.. (( if I was in their group, I would offer to let the ONE person behind, to go first ! )) - BUT - if I arrive ahead of the keepfitters, I expect to be served first.

Yesterday, I was at the bar - waiting for the bartender to emerge from 'somewhere' - to serve me.... when I was joined by the ladies from the keep fit class (( I think most of them needed double homework ! ))..... A few seconds later, the bartender emerged ''from a back room'', and asked '' Who's next?'' - In a flash, one of the group of women said '' That's me.'' - bloody cheek !! I wasn't going to have that - regardless of the person's gender.. I said '' Excuse me, I think you'll find that I was here first.'' The 'woman' replied '' I thought he ( pointing to the bartender ) was serving you.'' I said ''Well, why would he ask who's next ? You must have noticed that I was the only one at the bar when your group arrived... I wait patiently when I get here after you - but - today I was here before you lot.''.... that didn't go down well -- but I would soon put her in her place ( and if it had been a man, I would have said much the same - with variations allowed for a different gender. )

The 'woman' retorted and said ''I take exception to being called 'you lot' ''.. I replied ''Well, I take exception to anyone, regardless of their sex, to jump a queue - and - as I couldn't be sure that you're all 'ladies', I didn't want to upset any transgenders amongst you lot.''......
...... That killed that conversion !

I don't give Tesco advance payments for groceries I MIGHT buy next month !

In the Chairman's Chat thread, I mentioned that I've recently received an email from my energy supplier, informing me of a 41% increase in the monthly payments on my fixed rate tariff - when I have already have a handsome credit balance, and my actual usage indicates that my consumption will be less than 1% more over 12 months than originally calculated - by the energy supplier.

A charming staff member told me that the Company had guessed that I might use a lot more energy this winter. I stated that I realised that fact - but the build up of credit on the account is designed to cover the seasonal variations in energy use... I was told that the calculations ( by her Company ), was based on the amount of energy I would use based on historical data - and the Company wanted me to build up even more credit than exists -'' just in case. ''
I referred my existing credit balance as being more than enough for the next 3 months usage of 'increased' energy (( without further credit from the 'current' monthly debit. )) - I said that Tesco don't expect me to make advance payments for any groceries that I might buy in December or January.... at least I managed to make the customer service advisor laugh. I also asked why my monthly direct debits had not gone down during the Summer - to reflect the amount of energy that I didn't use ?.... I was told it doesn't work like that with fixed monthly debits - which were designed to cover bills across a 12 month period ! I invited the Advisor to think about this in terms of my enquiry.

So - what was the upshot ? The energy company moved me onto a 'variable' monthly direct debit. My energy meter will tell them my usage, and a bill will be generated (( wow - that's a novel idea ! ))........ and for the next two or three months, my monthly direct debit won't be going up by 41% In fact, I was told that the bills in that period are likely to be around £ Zero, because they will use up my credit (( which is basically how I thought it was supposed to work. )) every little helps!

    Golden Crap
Some years ago, in a town in which I lived, there was a Chinese restaurant that had its' name across the front window... That name was ; 'Golden Crap.'. It took a while before the owner got the sign changed to 'Carp.' ...........................

....what - did you think I was commenting on the quality of Gillingham's performance at Crewe (( and plenty of other games this season ))

    A 'business' idea......CRIME ! But - allegedly, it doesn't pay!

The article makes a mockery of the Law. The 'punishment' insults all honest people. I wouldn't want her children to 'suffer' - but - what if she had committed a murder ? Would she be allowed to go 'free'?

You might tell me that - if she now has no money, what else can be done? The answer is not easy - but- how about deferring a (proper) prison sentence until her children are 18 years old - and become (legally), adults -responsible for themselves......... otherwise why shouldn't everyone else be allowed to steal £97,000 from you and me ( assuming that you pay tax.)

I have the patience** of a saint. .....That is obvious - as a Gills fan, I have to wait a long time for a goal !

This morning, I again contacted EDF to enquire about a refund ( £ 144.96 ), from an account that I closed some time ago... In fact, I have been waiting since February for the refund.
In early October, I received an email from the CEO office - to inform me that a cheque would be sent --- within 10 days... At the same time, I received a separate email - from the finance department - to say I should expect the refund within 8 weeks !
I have been patient. I have allowed for 8 weeks to elapse.....still NO refund..............So, I gave EDF a call.

I was told that a cheque was sent to my home address on 8th October..... (( not received by me. )) EDF confirmed that it had not been cashed... They apologised and told me another cheque would be sent..... to expect it within 10 days !... I'll wait and see !!!

** Patience is NOT the same as Patients ( Amazon wouldn't know ) - that's my next 'delivery' for you -- keep 'tracking' the ARGRS thread for updates......
....... I'm that funny, I could be a clown (( and then I could be Prime Minister. ))

    AMAZON ...... '' We've lost your parcel - it's in a tropical rainforest in South America ! '' (( I've made that bit up ))

Yesterday, I was having a fabulous day with my sons - in Lakeside (( NOT shopping. ))... I got 3 calls from Amazon - which went straight to voicemail before I could answer.... They related to -- ''a logistical problem with facilitating a delivery.'' I I returned the call - only to get an automated message - to visit the website. I checked my Amazon account... My next delivery is not due until 8th December - and there was no issue listed with THAT item.

I then started an online 'chat' (( with what seemed to be a brick wall. )) I gave my order number, and my 'query.' I asked for the how I could help to resolve Amazon's logistical problem.................
3 times, the 'chat' line (bloody machine), referred to a charge on the account - and that I need to contact the retailer.... By the 3rd time of clarification of my query, I decided to change its' status to a complaint.

Only at this stage do I get a (sub)human on the chatline ! I repeated my order number, and the query - and asked for more details of the problem that AMAZON has with the order....... I got the usual crap about '' Thank you for your patients '' !! (( that is why I mentioned the spelling in my previous EDF post. ))

Amazon asked me for details of my order !!! -- WHAT ?? -- surely they have details of my account ( whilst I was in the chatline section. ) Surely they can read my information ( order number), in the chat?? I wasn't impressed - but - I described the product ( as well as repeating the bloody order number. )

I was told that the order was LOST !!! ...I was sceptical ( knowing that the item was not due for delivery until next week.)... I asked about the refund procedure in this matter (( because it was BEFORE the due delivery date. ))......whilst waiting for a reply, I used my phone to check my Amazon account - and saw that the order status had NOW been updated to show it was probably going to be 'LATE.'

..... So I typed this revelation into the online 'chat'.... The Amazon 'advisor' replied '' If the order is lost we can help with a refund. ''........ What was wrong with the idiot ?? I had to repeat that my Amazon's account (( details updated by Amazon )), showed the item was late and NOT lost...and that AMAZON was only confusing the matter.......

It was clear that the(sub) human, with whom it was my misfortune to encounter, hadn't got a clue... It (( I wasn't able to determine gender by the name given )) (( assuming that any gender was applicable to the moron )), IT then told me that I should wait until the delivery due date... if the parcel doesn't arrive, please visit our website to request a refund !!!!!!!!!!!

    ..... What a W - - - ER !..... obviously not intelligent enough to work for EDF.

I think I'd have started to worry about whether any call I received from 'Amazon' is actually genuine. There are so many scams about these days, and Amazon usually prefer to communicate by email or messages in your account. Did they give your order number when they left the messages? It may be that the poor guys at Amazon didn't have a clue about your order being 'lost' because in fact it wasn't (yet!!)

I'm not here to defend Amazon, but think that further checks might be in order. I'd prefer to trust the online order information in the account - you can be reasonably certain that the information in there is actually under the control of Amazon.

I agree as I've got Amazon Prime and have never had a phone call or need to phone them related to any problems. Communication has always been done by email or the ordering system. I would be suspicious of any phone calls.

    Update
(( Despite 'Amazon' telling me that the parcel was 'lost' )) , - today, I have been with Mrs A, visiting some shops ( before food goes out of fashion ! )
Upon our return, the lost parcel was on our doorstep !!

Even if the phone calls I received were not from Amazon, the company cannot escape criticism for the 'delivery' of the lost or late item - because it wasn't due until 8th December - and being 'dumped' at my front door was hardly professional................. what ? - am I supposed to be grateful to get it early ?? - it really is no wonder when so many parcels are not 'received' by customers .... the Courier won't care - because, as far as it concerns them, the customer will claim against the retailer or vendor..... ( basically Amazon, et al, don't give an excrement ! )

nb - the number used to contact me is listed as an Amazon 'Logistics' number..... thank goodness for Google

edit - just got an email from Amazon (( from the idiot )) - telling me I am being given a refund -- for a different item !!!....... obviously trying to give me grief with the retailer.......
...... I should expect stupidity - it's nearly pantomime season !..... oh no it isn't - oh yes it is.

What's the betting that Gills won't get that number against Crewe....... let alone the goal fest. ( 5-2 to Dulwich. )

The number shown on your phone might be listed as an Amazon 'Logistics' number, but that doesn't necessarily mean that that was the number being used to call you from.

A few weeks ago I was listening to a program on Radio 4 about phone fraud / phishing / identity theft etc and the summary was that unless you KNOW the person calling, assume it's fraud and work from there. Sad, but sound advice.

And if your son / daughter / other relative sends messages asking for money, speak to them before sending anything. The levels of sophistication of fraudsters are far greater than the ability of most of us to comprehend immediately, and new ways of trying to trick people out of money are being developed all the time.

Tim - I fully understand your sentiments.... I 'searched' the number on Google - and established that it was a 'genuine' Amazon number - and, by coincidence, I discovered the same number (( which I previously used to speak to Amazon )), was stored at another Amazon contact point on my phone....thanks for your concern - and advice for other members...

.... ps - my sons have already 'bled me dry' <laugh>

Tis the season to be jolly..................... well - let's see if there are enough reasons to fill all of those 12 days in the 'song.'

Being a Gills fan is torture at the moment. - But we're approaching Christmas (( whilst still being allowed to use the word - before 'political woke' makes it illegal.)) Romantic fools will say that Christmas is all about Peace and Goodwill - a time for giving and gratitude. I can actually appreciate these sentiments - so, in my effort to be 'jolly', I will give my list of Christmas cheer, and reasons to be grateful ( some of them are actually serious )
    1. Health - thank God - despite being old, grey, fat and ugly.
    2. Family... even Steve Evans said his grandson, visiting, will make him happy ( he's going to have much more time for his family in 2022 )..... I love my family. ( don't tell Mrs A - she'll expect an upgrade on her Christmas pressies ). .. As for my dear sons - does anyone know where I can buy them some common sense ?
3 . Friends - dear friends-not just people who bleed you dry- and then despise you for your help. These days, I'm telling more of them where to go!
    4. Freedom - I absolutely hate the 'woke' culture that is more infectious than any variant of Covid - but - There are so many parts of the World where you will lose more than just your liberty, if you dare to open your mouth.
    5. Wealth - obviously I haven't got as much money as somebody who extracts their wealth from a L1 football club - but - I'd like to think I'm not...... what's the word?............greedy?
    6. The World.... I've been to several parts... It is a beautiful World...humanity is doing it's best to relegate it to L2 ... or worse !............

I'm only half way through the list, and already I think that I might have had too much to drink - to go with all that 'stuffing' that I got last night !... and talking of last night --

    7. I am grateful for the 164 Gills fans who went to Yorkshire yesterday.. It makes me only the 165th most stupid Gills fan.. I didn't go to Rotherham (( I didn't fancy arriving home at 5am - with frozen bodily extremities and empty wallet ))..... Does wasting money and time on ifollow make me less of an idiot ?
    8. All the Gills fans 'banned' by the Grinch... Got 'shot' for just quietly 'standing' on the pavement! Can you imagine the reaction of Mr. Paul Scrooge if they had flown over in a plane ?... Well done to you true fans... I bet that, like me, you attended far more games than P.S could manage. during 10 years of his 'isolation.'
    9. Mr. Scally..... for the £ 1 of his own money that he has invested in a 'construction site.'.... We mustn't begrudge pleasures for others at this time of the year - anyway - would you really want to live as a wealthy tax exile in hot and fabulous part of the World (( instead of trudging through the dark, wet dogturd-ridden alleys of Gillingham ? ))
    10. Not606 members - for bearing up with my drivel.. it's only because I care.
    11. Mrs Alwaysright (( I can't say ''thank you'' enough ! )) -and for giving me so much love and making it easy to begin this list.
    12. My sanity - I think ? - or have I just gone completely ( Christmas ) crackers ?
    Merry Christmas everyone.

What's the ( tipping ) point ?........... unless it's to embarrass people - Just let them 'Pass!'

I occasionally watch Tipping Point... It's one of many mid afternoon 'quiz' shows on the television - which feature contestants who do not have to have much general knowledge ----- and never seem to fail to demonstrate the fact..... even the questions of the 'General Knowledge round in Mastermind are fairly weak these days.

Quiz shows appear to have evolved - to provide every opportunity to allow the participant to give the correct answer..... Often there is a multiple choice - which includes the correct answer.... In the ' WWTBAM' program, you get a 50 / 50, phone 2 friends, ask Clarkson - as well as having the answer staring at you - and they can still ' pass.' (( and walk away with a lot of money - which even Mr. Scally might be embarrassed to take. ))

.... But - Tipping Point is different...It does have rounds where the 'intelligence' of the contestants is 'tested' - but, at the later stages of the show, it pits two (non) Einsteins against each other.... A question is asked - but - the 'player' doesn't have to answer. They can pass it to their opponent...... who must give an answer.. They are not given the option to 'pass.' They MUST NOT SAY ''PASS.''

At this point, the poor contestant stands there - obviously hoping that the ground would open up before them.. They visibly squirm in a vain attempt to deflect the extreme embarrassment they feel as they struggle to give an answer -- but -- all they do when they open their mouth, is to utter something that makes them sound more of an idiot than Boris Johnson telling everyone that ; '' there wasn't a party -- and if there was, no rules were broken.''...

..... Why won't the program simply allow the player to ' PASS ', and forfeit their turn at the machine ? ... I ' nearly ' feel sorry for the people who simply don't know the answer - and cannot begin to have a guess --
-- mind you, ' guessing ' winds me up when I watch Mastermind.. The contestants are so desperate to avoid a penalty that would be incurred with a 'dreaded' PASS, they will often come up with something that is utterly ridiculous... They deserve all the humiliation they should get from family and friends - for what amounts to 'legal cheating.' .......

But - maybe, I'm missing the (tipping) point of the intention of the program makers... Maybe, in an effort to inject some interest, or humour, or drama into the 'show', they use the hapless idiots as cannon-fodder to feed the viewer's demand to be entertained... and - to use, and embarrass, real non-entities (( as opposed to the so-called celebrities )), won't damage so-called ' stars ' of stage and screen.

....Maybe, the point is to ritually humiliate of the contestant - but they can do that without any 'help' from the rules of the program..... For instance (( in The Chase - where 'passing' is permitted )), a question was posed - asking for the usual 'title' given to an unmarried woman ? Answer '' Pass.'' !!!! - The poor chap missed worse than Akinde going one-on-one with a goalkeeper !

Maybe it's just me... Am I too intelligent - to be intolerant of people with a low ( or non-existent ) IQ... or am I too thick to understand the real point of the show is to embarrass the contestant - and cause the TV audience to cringe.....Oh well - I guess I'll continue to make Mrs A shake her head ( at me ), as I shout at the dumbasses when they give a stupid answer....

Mind you, for ultra public self-humiliation - in a sad attempt to fool people (( or is it to deliberately try to insult their intelligence )), you don't have to go any further than to listen to a certain football club chairman giving a 'chat.'.......

All Gills fans know these 'chats' are Pointless... Just Scally opening his mouth sends me over the 'Tipping Point.' .. He is no Mastermind, or Egghead. ... nor is he able to Only Connect to the fans - So, to quote a well known ' Catchphrase', I think I'd rather PASS.
