The video of Silverstone shows Max look to the right, see Hamilton who is right alongside, straighten his steering and then turn right into Hamilton. So no.

    That's what everyone wants.

    Except Horner and Verstappen.

    They don't want that.

yeah, Silverstone was a load of bullshit, to compare an accident that happened in the middle of the racing circuit to one that was about 5m off it is pathetic. These new 'interpretation' rules for me say Max should've been penalised for Silverstone, because inside line is all.

If I were at Mercedes I could have some fun, I'd be demanding an inquest into Silverstone and demanding max get a penalty for the incident

The incident itself is done now... So may as well forget analysis of that. What's interesting now is what comes and how it's dealt with in future. Any team that gets hit with a penalty for crowding now will have an argument for no action. It's could get a little spicy up and down the field.

I think they were more concerned with avoiding lots of extra appeals on the ground of a new replay angle. We all saw Lewis get run off the road and new onboard told us nothing interesting.

I did read that lack of stewarding consistency is set to be raised by GPDA, hopefully, that leads to some clarity.

I don't think turning in is an issue, it's about whether the leading car left space, which Max did. If Lewis was ahead, he would have had the right to usher Max to a wider line, but he wasn't.

The traditional "he turned in on me" is when they go for the apex and ignore the car on the inside completely. Which isn't what happened there.

There's a difference between knowing there's a car on your inside and knowing that the car on your inside is going to run wide. Max sees a car on his inside and adjusts his line to leave exactly one cars width of space, but it's not obvious that Lewis can't slow down enough to take that space.

Lewis in Brazil also initially only leaves one car's width then later backs out of it because Max is fully alongside him at that point and clearly isn't making the corner. The whole thing takes a couple of seconds, which is slow motion compared to copse which happens at over 300kph.

He clearly goes to take the racing line. Max wasn't found faultless here.

George Russell getting his PowerPoint together as we speak.

I think this is the important thing, particularly with the races to come. If you're in front and defending, you now know that the best way to defend is to aggressively take the inside line, forcing your opponent to take the outside line, and brake 20 m too late to make the corner. If the other driver gets ahead of you then they must have done so off-track and have to give the position back.

Michael Masi did say it's not ok to overtake off track.

But then Kimi didn't get a penalty, so maybe it is really?

It does away with any subtety of whether it's better to defend the inside or outside into a particular corner, or which side the attacker will come. This defensive strategy renders it all redundant.

Unless you get a DRS pass complete and can get in front of the other car before the braking zone, it's going to be very difficult to overtake under this new "interpretation". It doesn't "let them race" because it does away with any racecraft.

Time for the ole up and under. Let them sail in to the scenery and get a penalty for retaining a position by leaving the circuit. :)

I am now going to enjoy the last three races, hope this goes down to the wire and enjoy a season that has been both controversial and entertaining. Whats more I will look forward to next season when there are many changes, technical and driver. Lets hope we have more entertainment in the coming years. I might even go to to Silverstone next year and enjoy a full pass (a mate is connected to one of the team bosses <cheers>)
