As posted above Dennis the general consensus from UK studies posted in more respectal outlets like the Lanclet is that there is some reduction (not massive) for the first 3 months than after that any benifit totally disapears and people aren't going to be getting jabbed every 3 months for enternity are they ? most of us would agree it's likely to be yearly boosters. As the majority of the population are vaccinated it's predomitly the vaccinated spreading just by pure numbers nothing else so would totally disagree with your view on that one.
Observing the original 'hands, face, space' message is the only way to get infection rates down and reduce the risk of more lockdowns.
Why are we so obsessed with another lockdown? We've been going about our normal lives for months now and it's not really backfired. The UK government have been consistently very reluctant to act even when it was needed. Now the situation is far less serious, why on earth would they try to lock down again now?
I don’t believe that is the consensus, but even if it was the lack of transmission at population level in the first three months is enough for it to help break infection chains. I agree annual boosters are likely
I still haven't grasped the opposition to vaccination. Why are people opposed to it? (bar the lunatic, injecting micro chip, silver paper hat wearing brigade). I have just had my booster jab and can't really understand the objection. I realise that if you are severely immuno-compromised or have had life threatening allergic reactions the vaccination might not be appropriate but what about the rest?
I think some people see it as the thin end of the wedge in terms of privacy, individual choice, etc. You know, vaccinations now, passports next, then no admission to xyz with no passport, no foreign travel, etc. I also think some people just don't want to acknowledge that there is a problem, head in sand syndrome.
Sort of "He who can keep his head when all about are losing theirs, just doesn't understand the seriousness of the situation." Hmmm, potentially fatal (and I DO mean fatal) error.
For what it’s worth I can’t see another lockdown. Only thing is though it’s not just about COVID spikes, it’s about pressure on the NHS so even though I doubt it will happen if it did it wouldn’t need to be a huge spike, it could be a small or continued increase at the same time as the health system was pushed for other reasons (backlog of surgery is huge)
https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20211112-the-people-with-immune-amnesia This is an interesting read. Explains how measles infects the body's immune T cells and effectively wipes the infected person's immunity to everything except measles, resetting the immune system. Taken in the context of COVID vaccination and the relatively recent opposition to MMR, it could mean that a measles outbreak among those who haven't previously had it or a measles vaccine could wipe any COVID immunity they have. Get a measles jab if you might need one!
Austria goes into lockdown and announces mandatory vaccination for everyone... Will the people vaccinating be calling street by street to impose this...
