Stadium was a big factor. Pearson got stuff right and got stuff wrong like any other owner past and future. He knew the value of PR though.
Sounds like a McCann interview from last season.... Except the fans bit obviously, but it seemed to work. Obviously some fans are quicker to go their own way than others....
It won't happen the same way again. Circumstances are different. As you said the stadium played a big part. New arrivals stayed as we had a period of great success and swelled the dje hards who would go no matter what. Now we have a lot of people who consider anything below the PL as failure. Others went to watch the PL stars as much as to see City as shown by the cringe inducing worship of Gerrard and others. Now we are back to the hard core, which is slightly more than in pre AP days. I think some people will be disappointed by the size of the first crowd post Allam. I don't think as many are staying away because of them as some do. I have already arranged to meet up with some old acquaintances when the day comes but will be surprised if the crowd tops 15,000 or so.
Depends how much notice folk have to get tickets, but I expect a turnout. Whether they will continue to come in a relegation battle is another matter.
I think a lot depends on when the announcement comes in relation to the next game. If it comes at 5pm the Friday before a Saturday home game then it will be less than if we change hands a Monday before an away Saturday and people have nearly a fortnight arrange the party with the fanfare and build up from the media.
Yes, but some people on some sites are getting carried away and talking of a sell out. We had trouble selling out some PL games when the novelty had worn off. Or FA Cup quarter finals for that matter.
Tickets are a lot cheaper now - in relative terms at least. if we can push memberships and multi-game passes then who knows...? Also expect a significant amount of both domestic and international interest from demographics not previously engaged due to the identity and profile of the new owner.
Read the thread. Hasn't got the experience - and whilst we're at it let's get pearson back instead.... Obviously the fact we're getting rid of Allam and are about to become the best supported English club in the bosphorus region ain't enough for some.
Oh i used to be a virgin with no experience now i'm a ****ing rampant animal, so obviously don't matter that much.
