We’ll see how much the others want to insulate Britain now.

He walked off a televised interview because someone rang in and told them his own house was uninsulated. My house is mega insulated mate, I put four inches of Celetex around all the walls including the floor and 12” in the loft, like a bloody oven<ok>

In this case we really should shoot the messenger ...

... but not necessarily the message.

We have one planet, it's badly injured, it's the 89th minute and we have no substitute.

Sounds good, I might look into putting floor insulation down myself, live in an old terraced property and the wind blows through the floorboards. <laugh>

They won't be so sanguine about it after a visit to the showers mind.

That said, I imagine the males among them might quickly discover their feminine side, decide they are now women, and demand a move to a woman's open prison.

They do like demanding things after all.

Happy Christmas to them all inside. It will make ours on the outside happier. And while they are in their, maybe they could do a little reading on the elements of democracy, rather than just stamping their feet and screaming to get thir own way.

It certainly is, that’s why I and many others paid to have their property insulated. Grants are available to help have this done, so I don’t see why people should expect the taxpayer to fund the full price.

They are. But the question is who should insulate it?

Most modern homes are well insulated anyway, often causing some damp issues along the way.

But we aren't Scandinavia, where decades of experience and necessity have meant their buildings are better designed to be much better insulated than ours.

With some older buildings, it will be impossible to effectively insulate, many not even having cavities, never mind insulation.

But basically I'd agree, it is a good idea, it's happening, money is being put into it, but it will never be enough for the zealots. It will never be enough for heat pumps either IMO, but that's another story, and probably next on the zealots list.
