You posted this … “Finally a man who has said what so many have told me they’ve seen. We’ll done GFAW Almost every advert , almost every programme has a ticked box selection ofpeople because of the fear of not beinginclusive or to be deliberately inclusive” I believed that quite clearly is about box ticking. Imagine the offence the actors who star in these programmes & adverts could take if they gave a minute’s thought to bigots’ views. I wonder if these “ticks” even had to do auditions & earn their equity cards or was deviating from “privileged white male” enough on it’s own? (Sarcasm)
The school I work at, there are 24 teachers. 3 of them, myself included, are men. It's a female dominated profession, my boss and my line manager are women. I wouldn't be given a headship on the basis that I'm a man, I'd actually have to be qualified and know what I was doing. In football, a woman would have to be capable at doing the job, otherwise it would be detrimental to the performance of the club as a whole and therefore "box ticking" wouldn't make sense. It might look like it from the outside if 20 men and 1 woman were interviewed, but if she was the best candidate for the job, with the same qualifications, why wouldn't she be given the opportunity?
I have no data available, but if we consider female sports team they presumably appoint purely on the grounds of ability and I so suspect the gender of managers nowadays is becoming fairly even. I also suspect the success across genders is fairly even. BTW Phil Neville and one of own Mark Robinson never played the women's game (whether football or cricket), but have done ok. Indeed Mark is considered one of the top cricket coaches in both male and female cricket. If he is capable of that, then why not a woman? I have no idea how they got around the helicopter issue though Chazz.
