I dunno, I think the corporate world (and plenty of other professions) have shown that two people given the same information and knowledge and experience can operate just as competently as each other regardless of gender. I'd go so far as to call that a fact.
One of the issues may be the perception amongst the male players - look at non-professional footballers who have gone into club management and their experiences. And let’s not forget Ted Lasso and Coach Beard… MoH
As usual on here a case of two people largely agreeing, but still somehow arguing! (well not really much of an argument, but you know what I mean) I was just challenging the assertion that women can't do a managerial job just because they're women, that is just ridiculous and as you say it will happen anyway and then we can judge individuals against individuals.
Finally a man who has said what so many have told me they’ve seen. We’ll done GFAW Almost every advert , almost every programme has a ticked box selection of people because of the fear of not being inclusive or to be deliberately inclusive . There are all types , genders etc in this society but media does not and should not feel they have to include all . The media is London based and reflects London society to a great extent but Hull and my parochial neighbourhood is not reflected by the media . I will also be branded by the righteous who do not open their eyes and probably live in bubbles that do not make them socially aware so a female cricket coach with all the badges knows what it feels like to deal with a 94mph ball coming at her - not a chance ‘ duck ‘ isn’t the answer . It’s the actual physical experience that’s different and that is what I believe would be the barrier to females getting credibility and understanding the mans version of some sports- football , rugby
Interesting that Andy Murray didn't see this as an issue having a female coach. I don't think a ball being faster struck changes too much in coaching methodology.
Funnily enough, the same applies to right handed mens coaches at cricket coaching left handers. A point driven home to a coach of mine facing a left handed bowler who was a friend of mine. Managed to bowl the coach with three succesive balls.
Adverts are full of people that sell products to the maximum effect, nothing more nothing less. Those adverts may not sell products to crispy old twats on football message boards, but that’s down to the prejudices of those old white blokes, not some bizarre allegation of box ticking.
The point is does every advert have to have the ‘ mix’ ? no it doesn’t , it can be all one gender , all one ethnic group or sexuality I’m not bothered , I’ll buy it if I want it and like it being a crispy old white bloke who apart from funeral care is rarely represented at all !
Mourinho never played football at the very highest level…..he’s done ok as a coach. Nigel Atkins was a physio. Lots of other example. It’s bullshit to say you need to have played to coach
This feels like a bit of a straw man as I can both think of plenty of 'single' group ads, as well as plenty featuring old white blokes. None of this is really the point being discussed though.
Some coaches are better than others, I think realising the course you have attended is not the be all and end all of it, and there is more than one way of approaching a problem is key. In any profession, you never stop learning and the day you think you know it all, your ****ed. That's my problem with McCann, its his way, its right, there is no other alternative, ... but it's not working, now what?
Think you ought to check out Adkins goalkeeping career and Jose’s shortish and relatively modest midfield career
neither competed at the very highest level, that was my point & my reply to your cricket ball analogy. You know exactly what the point was but it doesn’t fit your narrative
Mourinho wenger tuchel never played at the highest level Never played in a champions league final how could they ever prepare a team for that eh? Cloughy never won the first division or a European cup You’re making yourself look daft
