I like the look of the 2 David Pipe runners in the fillies juvenile hurdle at Leicester but I couldn’t say which one might win so reverse forecast.
Leicester 1.30 Robinshill - a winner last season after a long break - lurks on a dangerous mark - stable in fine form with 5 winners and a second last week - Nigel Twiston Davies does very well with handicap hurdlers at Leicester. Stats over the last 5 seasons: Runs 10 wins 3 placed 6 PL 8.00
I just thought id give my thoughts on the weekends sport as there was a lot going on wasnt there... Firstly i thought that the Cheltenham 3-day 'festival' was above average, some good, some poor and some memorable races with the general theme behind most of the media saying we need the rain...!! I really liked Art Approval in the opening race on Friday with a quick mention to Editeur Du Gite who i thought was worth keeping an eye on after making all in the Paddy Power Handicap Chase. The main story though was the 2x runners falling, stumbling at the 2nd last with Rachael Blackmore taking the honours as Harry Skelton couldn't get back on to his ride My Drogo...!! Third Time Lucki on Saturday jumped really well and looked a good prospect moving forward. A big mention should be given to Coole Cody who for falling 2x out in the Paddy Power Gold Cup would have mightily close to recording back 2 back wins in the race. Sporting John caught my eye once again, i have him in my tracker so was happy to have that return on the day but nowt much after that im afraid... Sunday saw Threeunderpar out jumped his rivals in to submission who has now gone in to my tracker, Yala Enki getting a round of applause for his jumping and the ride Bryony Frost gave him, superb stuff that. Nube Negra proved what a good horse he is but for me Politologue deserves just as much praise for his 2nd placed finish... Another one who out performed his supposed expectation was Adagio who gave the rest of the field a right run in the Greatwood only to be done by West Cork on the final climb to the line...!! Elsewhere, in the Ireland v NewZealand rugby match, we saw two sides who have got things going for them. The Irish looked bold, pacey and full of ideas. The All Blacks showing what defending your own goal line is all about with that counter attacking flair needed at the top of that sport... I wont dwell on the bore fest between the English & the Aussies as it was chalk to cheese compared to the other match... The T20 final was claimed by the jubilant Green and Gold of Australia, who took apart the New Zealanders with great bowling and some very powerful hitting. Sad to say that the best team didnt win the tournament as the Pakistani's, English & New Zealanders all performed better throughout the tournament compared to the Aussies. But they turned up for the final and produced some great cricket to seal their first ever T20 World Cup title... Great, just the boost they need before the Ashes...!! Elsewhere, and probably of no importance to anyone else the Washington Football team, NFL if you didnt know, turned over the current Super Bowl Champions the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 29-19 with a very impressive 10:29 minute drive in the 4th quarter...!! That's some effort I'll tell you... And finally, i will doff my cap to Lewis Hamilton for showing us how F1 should be done overtaking everyone it seems to win the Brazilian Grand Prix... Anyway, that's been my weekend in sport... Hope yours was as eventful...
