Do we want any of our players taking part in the Olympics.

I dont want any player who goes to Euro 2012 to take part but those who dont..... maybe that would be ok.

I can see this getting ugly when it comes to picking the team! managers will be pulling their players out left right and centre!! i wouldnt mind them playing both! its only like a couple of pre season games, and the games are a few weeks before the season so it could work well!

The FA has already said they won't allow players who go to the Euros to play in the Olympics. Wouldn't mind a few of the reserve kids getting a go - Tunnicliffe, Morrison, Norwood and Amos maybe. Perhaps Owen as well.

But not keen on the first team squad players participating - the Olympic footy runs till 11th August so that'd mean they got zero pre season and would meet up with the Utd squad the week before the CS. They'd rejoin the team I reckon it would completely **** them for the first few months of the season.

Well i dont think Rooney should go to the euros so why not send him to this. Could give us a chance of winning something.

    In a word, no.

Olympic football in itself is worthless, it's a waste of time really. Maybe for some youngsters it might be good experience but I'm not overly excited by seeing them learning to play the Stuart Pearce hoofball. And for any established players like Rooney or Owen - absolutely no. It will only mean they'll miss the pre-season and the first few of games too, and for what? Some pointless international tournament which should be for u-23 players only. Oh and Becks too of course, The FA need their sponsorship money. SAF should just plain refuse them permission to go there, likely he will too.

Rooney is never going to be allowed take part in that even in the unlikely scenario that he gets left out of the Euro squad, and rightly so. We need him to play for United.

Hope Becks doesn't go as it'll be crunch time in the MLS, and we'll need him in Los Angeles.

And because Olympic football is a waste of time.
