    Well! it’s been quite a week, one way and another. The lows and highs of being a Spurs fan. Hope Conte gets time to sort things out. But it would be nice to start with a convincing performance, topped by a convincing win. A fine old music hall ditty for this week’s rewrite. Some versions have only two verses (eg the one recorded by Florrie Forde in 1908, with whom, along with Madonna, I share a birthday – no, not a birth year!) so I’ve provided a selection all for your delight. Some quirky performing, which may amuse you. Hopefully that applies to the singers, not the Spurs!




    I saw the big mess that the Spurs sadly made,
    And was deep in distress at the way that we played. :headbang:
    Hoping we’d find new heart,
    Feared we’d fall apart -

    The signs were all bad, it cannot be denied
    And then with relief an Italian I spied! :emoticon-0103-cool:

    Oh! Oh! Antonio’s starting today!
    We’ve said “Goodbye Nuno!” (the reasons why you know!) :emoticon-0128-hi:
    I want to see him give the Spurs new heart.
    Then up will go Antonio with a winning start! <party><party><party>

    So sad grew the plight of the Spurs, alas!
    We'd giv'n up the fight and forgot to pass.
    We dreamed of our heyday: :emoticon-0101-sadsm
    “Bring it back today!”

    Our old style was lost in the mess that we’d made -
    It was hard to sing for our team when they played. :emoticon-0106-cryin
    Oh Oh etc

    Our hands in the air for Antonio!
    Ev’ton had a scare – and right from the word go.
    Soon the fightback began, :emoticon-0165-muscl
    The team ran and ran,
    And marked ev’ry man!
    Kane scored one (hooray), Skipp and Royal – more treats!
    Put out of our mind those earlier defeats. :1980_boogie_down:
