Entertaining game to say the least. Kind of wish I went now, lol. Visibly more intent on attacking and the WBs as I expected have been lively. Stupid mistakes defensively though but that’s standard, welcome to Spurs, Antonio.
The change in system looks to have immediately helped the players and it simply looks like they understand what they’re being asked to do. Whether we have just regained possession, have had the ball for a while, or are defending, the players seem to have instructions and be following them. Goals conceded have mainly been down to individual mistakes, which probably tells Conte a bit about the task ahead of him. Offensive and set pieces have been poor for years and we overplayed for the second one. Nevertheless, a good mix of encouragement and reality checks. And it’s been fun too, whereas even the good moments over the last few years have only been grimly satisfying at best.
I reckon de Vrij’s price has risen a few extra £m if those at Inter were watching Dier trying to defend in that half.
I've had nearly 60 years of this Antonio, welcome to Tottenham Hotspur home of the football roller coaster, strap in and enjoy the ride
Awful player and what's worse, in a system with 3 at the back he needs to be far more vocal in organising the 2 players either side of him. Given the fact that he has supposedly been favoured based on his "leadership qualities", I struggle to believe I'm looking at the same player.
Considering Conte has only spent a few days with the squad, he's influence is already evident in the team. It bodes well for the next few months. He will obviously work on improving Dier or get a new CB in.
There's still no leader out there on the pitch. Hojbjerg the closest I would imagine, but still rudderless
