I can't imagine Jagielka is on much at Derby as he was brought in when they didn't have enough players. However, that is why I said the club, not McCann in particular has not helped Greaves development. What I would say, though, is that it's going forward that is the biggest problem. Defensively, yes we make mistakes, but that is what young defenders can do, but we have lost a lot of games 1-0, and at this level you can concede the odd goal, but keeping it to one we should be scoring at least a goal or two in some games, which would either get us a point or 3 if we get more than one.
We signed Huddlestone, what makes you think Jagielka or Davies wants so much more than he did? Davies basically asked us to sign him.
They signed Jagielka under a strict salary cap imposed as a result of their embargo, he's not on big money. At no point in the summer did we attempt to sign an experienced centre back, that wasn't down to money, it was down to some idiots thinking we should sign half a dozen midfielders instead.
I would still bet he’s on twice most of ours however low , he’s close to Sheffield his hometown- again a reason for not coming here if ever asked?
No, but I think you could say the same for all of the games this season. Grant has just said that we'll pick up points if we keep playing like that, but a points tally of less than double-figures suggests otherwise.
Curtis Davies would have signed for us. It was a huge mistake from Grant not getting an experienced centre half in.
Have you read the Baggies managers after match comments ? We parked the bus , faked injuries wasted time and wanted the ball out - what an absolute tossed excusing his own inadequacies - they all do this don’t they
Too true.....Michael Dawson retired too early. If not playing he could pass on his experience. Let's be fair donkey defending is a sure way to L1. Trying to play out from the back is an accident waiting to happen. Memo to Terry... Man City we ain't.
Whilst it's true that our defensive numbers aren't as bad as our goalscoring numbers, I think part of the reason our goalscoring numbers are so low is that we're always behind. We concede early most games and then chase the game for the rest of it. When we're chasing the opposition have something to defend and they do that. I think if we could stay in games longer, stop falling behind early on all the time, we might find there are more gaps later on as the game opens up.
As I said ideally we should have had an experienced centre back in to play alongside Greaves, then we may have fared better defensive wise. However, the defence is constantly under pressure as we just don't dominate the midfield, we are overrun there, so this 3 in midfield at this level just doesn't work.
looks like he's changed his tactics for interviews - I thought he came across quite well and was well worth the listen - pity he didn't speak like that all along rather than come across as prickly and stubborn - the guy really doesn't help himself - at least you can understand better what he's trying to do - whether you agree with him or not is a different matter of course
while it was one of the "better" defeats , would probably expect defeat there under most circumstances, you just cant ignore another big fat zero added to the goals scored column. i said it the other day but i would rather have watched us lose 4-2 or 6-3 last night. whole point of football is the joy of celebrating a goal ffs
Accepting Allam can't do anything is fundamentally incorrect, he can and indeed should get rid of McCann now! Put Pennock in temporary charge who's already on the payroll on an interim basis. Terrys record at this level is shocking and he's taking us down. Some may have some sympathy for Terry, but he knew the constraints and accepted the gig.
That could be down to how well we played ,with a few tweeks and a change up front possibly T Smith and longman given a few games to establish themselves there's a lot of doom and gloom merchants ready to bash the team but I've watched the last 3 second half's and it's not all been terrible we are lacking a threat up front.
He does actually reminds me of Harry especially when he first came to us. When he learns when it is ok to go or stick, he will be a good player, but he won't be playing for City then. It's not what we needed. Curtis Davies would have been a better shout
