Silva ultimately failed, despite giving it a good go and being backed to a degree, our other sortee into foreign manager territory also failed with the likeable Slutsky. For me personally I'd go for Wilder, but what will be will be. As for your point re Phelan I think I'm right in saying it was his first managerial position, some manage to make the step up, some don't.
Top of my list would be Wilder too, though I still expect a DOF in also as seems to be the way on the continent - and increasingly here now also. Just gonna have to watch this space.
The buyers of Newcastle took over a year to get it over the line, now the richest club in the world with big plans according to the biffa fans, 5 managers have turned them down. One would have thought they would have a plan already to put into place.
The Newcastle delay was down to litigation surrounding fit and proper owners test though. You can see how a takeover date couldn't exactly be pinned down until pretty short notice under those circumstances, and you can't have targets hanging on over a year just in case it goes through. Ultimately its like any other recruitment process. There'll be a list and they'll be working through it - if they haven't already - but until a contract is signed then nothings certain.
Pulis was taking Wednesday out of the championship when they hooked him. And he had better players at his disposal than we have now. We can do better than yesterday’s man.
Quick to get in before January, try help steady the ship. Nothing wrong with free transfer provided they add something. Not worth it just for numbers in most cases.
I haven't looked at UK based free agents for a while, but you'd expect we might be fishing in a bigger pond once this goes through.
No doubt, and I guess I meant Europe too. Covid and the lack of crowds has probably left a lot of decent free agents that could do a job. #allamsout
Tbf you don't even need to know the league. You just need to be one of the better gaffers in the league and you'll be fine. Football is football, it's the same game from country to country there are just different styles depending on which league you're in. So much is made of championship experience whether that be players or managers but you just need quality.
Out of all the candidates I’d prefer Chris Wilder. I like the way he talks and he has the ability to get us up the table. Mind you I’d prefer Billy Wilder to McCann.
Silva was a slimy **** who despite getting us out of the ****, he put us firmly back in it and took us down before jumping ship. Phelan was left without a bloody team and wasnt up to it, but he wasnt backed like Silva was with signings.
Deffo. I still maintain he took his foot off the gas at the end of 2016-17 because he knew he was off to Watford and he wanted them to stay up. I always did like a good conspiracy
Said i was a Dick Jesus Christ,. So on my way to the airport to pick up a friend and her indoors rings " how you doing" Said i just got onto the M25 "Why you on the M25 that's a long way round from here why not just go through Hitchin" Eh why would i do that " Easy and quick going that way to Luton" I'm going to Heathrow "He is landing at Luton he is already there waiting" FFS why did i think it was Heathrow " Your a Dick"
