Chepstow 1.30 Smuggler's Blues Was second of todays mark at this track last year in November on his second run after a break. Will be better for comeback run last time out. Tom George with 7 placed from 18 runners last 14 days so stable form not to bad in my opinion. Talented Thomas Doggrell takes off valuable 10 lb and his confidence will be high after a winner at Ascot last saturday. Smuggler's Blues has become a reliable performer for each way purposes after a wind surgery last year.Solid each way chance today in my opinion. Good luck whatever you back
In the 2.30 Chepstow I'll take a chance on Song Of The Hunter. This point to point winner had a Champion Bumper entry before its first run under rules when trained by Gayl Haywood and the 3 seconds over hurdles for Johnny Farrelly last season were not without promise. Could make a bold bid from the front today on debut for Tim Vaughn who had a winner at Chepstow last week.
CRY HAVOC 14/1 Kempton 4:45 The price is a standout with 365 who have pushed it out, maybe they know something but this horse has had a tune up and races here today off her last winning mark. She has proven course form and her comeback run was full of promise. For some real thievery you can even take 10/1 for five places. I think she is too big to go unbacked today.
Morning, team. Hope everyone A-OK. Must report that I'm quite excited by the fact that there are 2 Pertemps Qualifiers over the next few days (Thurs and Sat). More plots than an Agatha Christie novel and who will finish 6th and all that... Now bit of housekeeping. The German horse, Estacas, will next, all being well, return to Ascot for their Listed Bumper next month. And on the subject of German bumper horses I see another is entered at Aintree at the weekend - different stable to Estacas. Sandringham, for that is he, is a Dream Ahead 3YO who is a half-brother to the Grade 3 winning hurdler, Surin (who won on her bumper debut). Be interesting to see if this German targetting of British bumpers becomes a regular thing. Good luck all.
I think Lucinda Russell could take the 2.50 at Musselburgh with Red Missile. From her website: "Red Missile takes a big step up in trip to contest the 3m handicap hurdle, returning to the scene of his Flat win in the summer. An out-and-out galloper, we feel he is well worth trying over this sort of trip as we seek to eke out further improvement. He would look to have an each-way chance in a competitive race."
I do wonder what the motivation is - can’t be the prize money so perhaps they are trying to establish them as potential NH stallions? Is Sandringham also an entire?
3.40 Nottingham Tomahawk Bridge Was 2nd at this track one year ago on good to soft of 2lb higher. Beaten by a nose 3 runs ago at Leicester. Wasn't suited by the undulating track at Brighton 2 runs ago according to the trainer. Unusual slow start at Catterick and always behind (usually races prominently) last time out. I've the feeling will make a bold bid from the front today under Luke Morris.
