This post won't go down well on here but I'm going to post it regardless. KLD and his approach to the running of the club won't go down well with our fan base in the long run His philosophy is all centered on the academy and bringing players through he is adamant that he wants to run the club self sufficiently He has absolutely no intention of spending multi millions on transfer fees this is the feeling I got from speakman at the roker hotel last Friday His plan is very very long term and the majority of our fans will eventually turn on him imo for the simple reason that they are totally sick to **** of the ****e we've had to put up with for decades
I’m all for having a go at Johnson but KLD has done nowt wrong yet, and a plan to make us self sufficient isn’t the worst thing to happen to us. No way will he want to fail here, money will be spent if it’s needed(in my humble).
Can understand that line of thinking but it’s a fine balance between spending and survival, we made that mistake in the past (many times) and I bet we were closer to going under than people realise. I’d rather have long term survival than anything else.
i don't think that idea went down too well with the fans when first mentioned if i remember right but we tried throwing money into it and got nowehre, a new, fresh approach was needed. the obvious downside with this new approach is that it will not reap instant dividends and may take a few years to 'blossom' (if ever)...i was one that backed the new recruitment policy and still do, although (like many others) i did get a tad worried about the lack of numbers coming in. we have seen some excellent '2nd string' games and many are starting to wonder why those lads are not getting more chances, time will tell i guess but i very much doubt that KLD will splash the cash regardless, if his plan develops as we all hope it should give us plenty of benefits in the long run but this was never going to be, or meant to be a quick fix.
And there was me thinking Speakman would announce that KLD would be spending millions on transfer fees
Flaming is right in that the plan is that it must be sustainable. That is the model. Lot of SLT have been open about it. However, it's for this league. There is a big budget if we do up and a plan for that. ..why LJ won't be tolerated. Flaming isn't wrong with his main points but context is important.
KLD has done nowt right if you ask me this club goes from one disaster to another, from Murray right through apart from the Niall quinn consortium, we did nowt in the summer and sold Wyke which is a piss take, that defence is yet again a bunch of morons, we keep signing ****e players when will it end ? these ****ers just take the ****ing piss, as well as the refs this will explode out of control eventually
Getting a bit bored of saying this but here we go again. We didn't sell Wyke, he signed a contract elsewhere for more money after rejecting ours. Also Stewart is a better player than Wyke hands down.
Might be just me, but I’m glad they have a long term plan and won’t simply throw money around, especially in League One. If it takes a few years longer to get back to the top flight then so be it, better than building on sand.
The nature of recent losses is alarming but in the cold light of day it's refreshing to have a young billionaire owner who's building steadily and meticulously rather than just chucking money at problems to paper over cracks. We all know how that can go. It may take a while but the rot stopped and we're heading in the right direction.
Wouldn't look over there even if you paid me. Struggled on here recently with the match-day threads but my thick skin and mental condition are coping... Just.
