It looks like one deal's been done already...

More than 100 leaders representing 85% of the world's forests will commit to stopping and reversing deforestation by 2030 in a "significant milestone" on the road to tackling the climate crisis.

Countries including Brazil, Russia, Canada, Colombia, Indonesia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo will sign the pledge on Tuesday, which is backed by £14bn ($19.2bn) in public and private funding.

Lets hope it's more successful than the commitment they made in 2014.

Kofi Smiles is banging on about this on the radio at the moment, I don't get, they arrange for 20,000 delegates to go to Glasgow from all over the world how do they expect them to get there?

Expecting world leaders to get on a commercial flight with 300 other people is hardly realistic is it? It's a security risk that no sane nation is going to take, particularly when they're already a terrorist target.

400 flights is a piss in the ocean, on the first weekend that travel restrictions were lifted here, there were 2,305 flights in and out of Mallorca alone.

i wouldn’t say she is uneducated as she speaks bloody good English. I’m not a fan of urban warriors/activists
but at least she has the younger generation interested even if she if she is front of shop for others to script. Sometimes for some reason people get shoved in the front as a mouthpiece and get stuck there. I think this may be the case of well I can’t get off the train now.

They will be staying at the same hotels, they are in the same venue - that’s deemed an acceptable security risk, so why not arrive on the same plane?

Surely it’s about setting an example & making a public statement. Arriving on a private plane for environmental conference makes them look grade A dicks

Every one of the 20,000 delegates had to be security vetted, there's 10,000 police on duty in Glasgow every day for twelve days and they're not all in the same hotels, Biden's not even staying in Glasgow due to security concerns.

There's over 100,000 flights a day worldwide, 400 planes bringing people to a two week conference aimed at tackling world climate change is neither here nor there, it's a complete red herring.

    Talking shop....blah....blah....blah....
Though at least they are talking, whilst Joe Biden is sleeping on the job.
Not sure what member's of the royals know about climate change, when they use private jets to get from a to b, and not public transport, like us subjects.

The richest 10 percent of the worlds population produce 52% of all CO2 admitted.

So basically the future of the world is in the hands of rich.

Until China and to a lesser extent the US and India get serious you might as well blow it out of your arse.
Irreversible forward gear to human extinction, probably due to over population, starvation and lack of drinking water, then throw in war for good measure. No reverse gear.

    To true.

The Carbon Footprint calculator was idea dreamed up by BP in the mid 2000s to make climate change about individual choice.

The UK is responsible for 1% CO2 Emissions. Its population is 68.4 million
So my bit is 1% divided by 68.4 million
    Can I make a difference?
    No
Doesn't mean I shouldn't try but I also have a sense of perspective.
